True. I find I can mostly stick to the existing beats & get a lot of nice variations from the Style Edit.
It does tend to stick to possible playing & keeps a good feel.

Well I gave it another go and it's making a bit more sense. Also, exporting the loop I worked with out to Logic and it worked just fine with Slate. The only thing I noticed was there could have been a little more variation in hit velocity. I'm sure that's an easy fix.

Does slate sound better?

Can't tell. It was late and Mrs. Evil wanted quiet!!! LOL!
I'll try again today. It was pretty cool to take a basic beat, and then add and adjust drums using that knob to make stuff more complex.

GRIMESPACE wrote:You don't have to export it from EZD2. In Reaper, create a new virtual instrument track, select the right plug-in, and it'll open an EZD2 window for you. Create a beat you like and you can drag it to the track window back in Reaper. If you double-click that, you'll get the Piano roll (midi-editor).
However, if you build a track directly in EZD2 using the song builder, you can leave it there.
No export / import - easy tweaking / remixing drums separately, etc
I've done this before but can't remember which plug in it is.
Any idea?

Mine shows under All Plugins>Instruments>VSTi:EZDrummer
Or, All Plugins>VSTi>EZDrummer
If you're still having trouble, just click the All Plugins item, then start typing EZD in the Filter List box on the bottom.
Let me know - I can post screen shots of my setup

Was wondering if I was gonna get away with that one

And yeah, I'm definitely a card-carrying member of the nerd club. Says so on my pocket protector. Been in IT since 1988. Hell, I'm pretty sure I was one of the guys that invented the PEBKAC acronym

Nice! I'm pretty sure I created ranch and hot sauce at the Denny's on Memorial Dr. in Chicopee, MA around 1991 ...

No worries - I'm just glad to be able to contribute something around here every so often
I wanna see the EZD2 crowd grow - more support for all!
Next we gotta get some of the factory reps to show up. Already had that for a minute or two with Doug from JCA. Why don't you start an EZD club thread, Pablo?

That's not a bad idea. I need to learn MIDI and Piano Roll anyway. I'm getting addicted to making drum beats in EZD2. We could all contribute to teh learnted.
I have thought about it, but haven't acted on it. My basic idea was to have people post different drum pockets and beats that GABbers could download to use/tweak for their own stuff. For me and what I like to play, I need maybe 5 or 6 different grooves to mess with.

You might consider doing with I did with the big JCA thread - make it a "master" with reference links to other threads or other postings within the main thread. Makes it easier to find stuff later when the thing grows to 29 pages like mine did today

If you haven't seen it, just click the link on my signature and look at the first 3 postings. I think the 3rd one has all the reference links. I'll even show you how I format the bullets & links if you need help - it was kind of a trick that I had to figure out.
I really think you oughta run with it, Pablo. You're the chief conspirator on this one - it should be you
