We once did a a/b test between a Spectraflex Fatso and an Evidence Lyric HG. While there was a slight difference, I wouldn't say either one was better than the other. And the Fatso is like 1/3 of the price. And most of all, my Spectraflex cables have been more durable than the Evidence ones I have.

Seems like u got a nice price buying used, but I think that it's bullshit as far the rep saying he hears the difference. As long as you have a decent quality cable you should be alright but no need to spend $1000 on a few guitar cables. many of us play mostly overdriven guitars anyway. can u imagine the profits these guys are bringing in??

Man, I think you're going off the deep end a little but hey, looks like you have some well-made cables to use now...I'd use them for recording too.
I really don't think cables are gonna make a difference in what you pointed out in the clip, though. Honestly it sounds clear as a bell, like REALLY nice. I think you're needlessly making yourself crazy because there is plenty of note definiton, lol.

This vid is more simple/straight to the point.
Minimal difference heard.
Under gain, would be hard pressed to hear any difference at all.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMfp73Z_sNkA little more gain here
(I am hearing some slight differences here at the 1:40 mark on the bridge pickup)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ddd6bXblCb4

Cable capacitance works with your guitar and amp to make a low-pass filter. So some cables can darken the tone a pinch. Not into that? Try a shorter cable or place a $.02 pf cap in series with the cable.

Thanks for the vid. Put some headphones on. It pretty much proves there are pretty big differences in cables. I liked the elixir.

Man, I've had the same spectraflex cables since about 1999, and they still work flawlessly. They're fairly beat up and dirty, but I've never had an issue with any of them whatsoever.

I just bought a mogami gold speaker cable. I'll do some A/B testing with that too vs my mystery brand with Neutrik ends.

This!
...in combination with the quality of the connectors determine a good cable. There *are* directional
CABLES that have a floating ground on one end of the cable (as mentioned earlier), but not directional
WIRE, which is pure snake oil.
Here's a great thread on this topic over at GearSlutz, which has some pretty heavy-hitters involved in the discussion:
