Between the size and weight, and the fact that I'm on the east coast and he's on the west coast, it ended up being about $80. I let him know that he didn't need to cover the entire thing, but that if he could Paypal me something to help cover it that would be great. He agreed and I sent him my Paypal address.

Two months later I still hadn't seen anything from him or heard from him. He didn't reply to PM's and I honestly was worried that something happened to him. Eventually he drops me a PM, says he couldn't Paypal me any money because he didn't have my Paypal address, even though I had forwarded it to him. I said, no problem, sent him my Paypal address AGAIN, and mentioned that if he just wanted to send me a couple of preamp tubes instead that would be fine. He agreed to send me two 12AT7's and two 12AU7's (I only asked or one of each, but he insisted he would send me two of each) so I gave him my physical address. Needless to say, they never arrived. Now he is straight up ghosting me and refusing to answer the last PM that I sent him, even though he's still posting on a regular basis.

After 6 months, I'm done being polite, I'd rather settle this with him, but he isn't even man enough to reply to a PM anymore, so I just want to post the story so that people know not to deal with him because he's not even remotely honest, decent, whatever word you want to use. I've dealt with countless forumites and never had anything close to an issue, and try to be as accomodating as possible, but it really seems like the fact that I've been so patient and polite is why he's just plain blowing me off. Some people only do the right thing when they know someone's going to whoop their ass if they don't. :cop:

That is all. :rawk:

All I can say is "guilty"... sucked bad on this one, and that I'm sincerely sorry, Mike. I should have known I really wish I would have declined when you told me you were having it shipped (at considerable $$$ cost), but I let things get away from me.

I have all four tubes here, just need to pack/box them and take them to the shipping place. I'll do that as soon as I get paid on Thursday.

Honestly, this last couple of years has been a big fucking personal nightmare, and I've just been pushing too many priorities to try and get my life back on track. I'm guessing l won't get your friendship or trust back, and I'm really sorry for that.

Mike - I'm getting radio-silence on the DMs I've sent you this week, so I'm just gonna post here... tubes are going to the post office this morning and will be shipped to the address you gave before. I hope this is ok. I'll send tracking info via DM so you (hopefully) have it.

<EDIT - update follows>

Package is shipped. Should be at your door on the 19th. I'll DM the actual tracking info, too.

No worries, I get it. The last three years of my life have sucked harder than a hoover. I'm an accountant by trade, spent most of my career doing internal financial reporting and financial analysis. I worked for a dotcom for almost 15 years, then their business started to go south so they laid off a bunch of people, myself included. Then I got a job with an energy company, loved the guy I worked for, loved the people I worked with, and then 8 months later they filed chapter 13 bankruptcy, the kind where they liquidate the business ASAP. Then I got a job with a local security system company, took a huge pay cut, but was ten minutes from home, which was awesome for a variety of reasons. They lost a bunch of their big national contracts and had to lay off almost all of their office staff (it's a family-owned business, so the receptionist and immediate members of the family were the only ones spared). No worries I thought, I'll get into stripping, which has long been a dream of mine. I spent some time working on my dance moves and stage choreography, only to find out that being short and fat with a bald spot and receding hairline isn't nearly as sexy as I thought it was. That dream went down the drain like a hot number two.

I thought I knew the meaning of the word pain, but last year I learned the true meaning of pain. I slipped a disk in my back, and for a few weeks was in such bad shape that coughing or blowing my nose hurt like holy hell. Then it happened. I sneezed, my entire body seized up, and I felt pain like I never knew existed. It hurt so bad I almost passed out. I was a hockey goalie for almost 20 years, so I've had my share of run ins with pucks going 90 mph that left bruises that hurt so bad I could barely breathe, but this was another level of pain altogether. Good Times!

Then I got a bacterial infection in my digestive tract that had me getting violently ill for a couple of months, and I mean to the point that I had to sit on the toilet and throw up into a garbage can because it was coming out both ends. At one point my body convulsed so hard that I, wait for it, slipped a disk in my back again! Jesus Titty Fucking Christ, does it get any than this!

Then my left hand started going numb. It got progressively worse to the point that everything from the wrist down was numb, whereas up to a point it was confined to my fingers. My doctor referred me to a wrist specialist, who had some tests run where they send jolts of electricity through various nerves and look at the output on a scope to determine if the nerve is the issue or a muscular/skeletal problem that is causing the issue. The first round of test was tolerable, the jolt of electricity is sent from a probe touching your skin. The second round of the test was an entirely different story. They had to actually stick a probe a half inch into my arm at various places (leaving dark purple bruises everywhere they stuck me with it), sending the jolt of electricity through nerves that are deeper within your arm. At 20 mA it hurt a little, at 30 mA it hurt a lot, at 40 mA my whole body jolted in pain, and when he hit me with 50 mA it felt like the pain I felt when I slipped the disk in my back and then sneezed. He had to do it from various places on my arm, and in each location it was a series of single pulses with a few seconds in between, and then a series of rapid pulses within a half second of each other. During one of the bursts of rapid pulses at 50 mA, it hurt so bad I actually passed out. Literally went lights out and was so out of it when I came to, for the first few seconds I didn't even know where I was.

The good news is that I don't have a degenerative nerve condition, which was the biggest fear. Bad news is that I have carpal tunnel. If you had told me years ago that I was going to develop carpal tunnel in one hand but not the other, I would have bet the farm on my right hand, since that's the hand I use to give myself the old low five. Never in a million years would have expected the left hand to go batty on me. Started physical therapy, and I'm getting a cortisone shot later this week. I'm hoping those are enough, because the alternative is surgery, which I pray to Dog Butt Jesus I won't have to resort to.

We're cool, over the last few days I regretted posting what I did. We're all friends on this board to some degree or another, and I felt bad about having my period all over you. Life is too short to be a douche over something relatively insignificant. :thu:

Sorry to hear about your situations Mike and Steve. I hope both of you know I am here if you ever want to talk about it or even just vent off.. I consider both of you my friends.

I am glad that this worked out because both of you are people I know and care about and I know there is really no bad guy in this deal, just shitty stuff happening to good people.

Hang in there, it gets better.

Bought the HX backpack from Tortuga. Dude was cool to deal with and upfront about his situation. Since I wasn’t in any hurry it was more than fine. Steve’s good people. And glad to see he and Mike worked things out. Always good.

Good dealing with Tortuga (Steve Grimes). Traded my Mojotone 50W 2204 Amp Kit for his Helix LT. We had a bit of a hiccup with the Zelle transfer (the shipping $$ he sent me to cover part of the shipping as we had agreed upon took about 4 business days to clear my account, which is not typical of Zelle). In any case, he re-sent funds via alternate methods, then when his original Zelle transaction hit my account, I promptly sent it back to him without issue. The build is looking great, Steve!!
