Iron Monkey- 7/10 Fun kung fu action. I dunno, its a goofy kung fu movie. I liked it.

The Vow- Going to bed to stop the pain/10 Rachel McAdams is married to Channing Tatum. They get in a car wreck and she conveniently loses all memory of life with him. But NOT of life before him. I wish I was forgetting everything assaulting my brain right now. Oh, and Chumping Tatum runs a recording studio. Does not matter or help.

Yeah, the vow pissed me off, and I couldn't watch it.

I cannot understand why anyone would want to watch such overly contrived drama as this shit? I mean at least my overly contrived dramas involve orcs, elves and swords. Sheesh.

I think I played Civilization V while that was on in the background. I'm almost positive I did cause I sorta tried to watch and decided I hated it and stopped watching.

Movies like this are why I don't totally discount every movie my wife picks from Netflix. I knew of it, but hadn't ever watched it before. Just a good movie from the era when movies could entertain without pandering and hand-holding you all the way through it. The backstory as to why he wanted to be a mountain man was a few seconds basically saying, "nobody knew where he came from and what he was leaving behind. . ." done. Now, if Hollywood saw fit to remake it (and they better not) that backstory would likely take up an hour and a half. In fact, they'd probably have to make the film a trilogy because there's no way they could get to the actual story in less than three hours.

If you haven't seen it, you should. Just a great film about a different type of life. Anybody that ever wanted to drop out would get the why, and possibly be surprised by the way the story shakes out. A damn good movie.

:thu:

IMHO, the best movie RR ever did.

If you liked that one, you must see "Little Big Man" with Dustin Hoffman.

Seen it. It was alright. I don't think I liked it quite as much as Jeremiah Johnson though.

Mega Python vs. Gatoroid- Unrateable. Its difficult to rate a movie that isn't even attempting to be decent. Granted with a budget of 500k, you are limited in what you can do. So, pro tip, don't make a shitty giant monster action flick requiring lots of CGI.

Just pull a Cloverfield, have 1 giant monster, hide it most of the time, and spend the slim budget on things like "acting that doesn't seem like its been read off a cue card" and "editing."

Seriously, its so bad, but the remote is across the room and I'm lazy.

Edit: Tiffany's boobs are pretty damn awesome though.

Transcendence ..5/10 sadly this was lost perhaps in the editing room , fantastic and very possible ideas could not be tied up by the films end, I can understand how such a concept could get away from them . Entertaining yes , but it would have been more complete if they left out some of the BS and the cast was out of place . Still check it out on a lazy day and see the possible near future of our world .

American Hustle - 5/10
If Jennifer Lawrence woulda spent more time skanking it up and the girls kissing woulda lasted longer I might bump it up. Interesting story that somehow got bogged down in its own pretentiousness to the point where I just plain didn't give a fuck about most of it. +1 for Bradley Cooper beating the fuck out of his boss. Lots of that feeling going around.

And ovid, wasn't Mega Python vs. Gatoroid the one where Debbie Gibson and Tiffany finally had their long-desired-by-every-eighties-boy throw down? That's where the entire budget of that movie was spent. Worth every penny. All of those scyfy movies are complete shit, but still somehow worth watching. The one where they have the abandoned tug holding a whole shitpile of snake eggs was one of my favorites. Can't remember the name of it, just remember the stupidity of it, and the main female star being WHOAH hawt.

I don't know, I only saw the last 45 minutes or so and I wasn't watching too closely.

I know all those movies are shit, but it seemed they at least used to try to make an actual movie out of it. Apparently not.

Saw this last night. Really well shot and edited. Not exactly what I expected from a revenge flick either but real well done and enjoyable.

The November Man was much better than I thought it was going to be. Maybe a solid 6...I found it to be more entertaining that that Guardians of the Galaxy cluster fuck. I fell asleep with like 15 minutes to go in that movie. No fucks given.

OTWO (owed the wife one)

Got back from 5 days of drinking and debauchery in Denver and she wanted a girl movie last night. No fucks were given and I was glad to be home.

The Fault In Our Stars - 8/10

That kid is gonna be a star if she keeps it up. Sad movie but good message. Watch if: you're not really in the mood for anything so it doesn't matter what you watch. If you owe your wife one, pick this and score major points.

Skip if: you cry easily. :)

3 Days To Kill-5.5/10

Was bored last night and let my wife pick it......trailer on Amazon looked ok, but the movie, while not miserable, fails hard. It's supposed to be an action comedy, but fails with the comedy...supposed to be a story about a long time CIA agent that quits and wants to go back to spend time with his family, but that part fails too....Connie Nielsen (naked redhead from The Devil's Advocate and Lars Ulrich baby momma) is aging well and turns in a decent performance.

Tries to be funny, fails. Action, ok but not great. Family story, nope. Kevin Costner doesn't really work for me as an action hero.....even though he did really well with the fight scenes it ultimately flopped on the rest. My wife is a lot more tolerant than I when it comes to films and I was shocked to hear her yell "Cmon, again?!" at one point. She didn't really dig it either.

TMNT 2/10 Saw this while in Denver....even while drunk and sitting on THE most comfortable movie recliner I've ever sat in with staff bringing beers and shots during, this movie was a complete fuckfest of lamery. And I'm being generous. What a POS...Transformers is Oscar material compared to this.

amores perros

Probably the most disturbing movie I have seen. The good: 3 different story lines brilliantly woven together. The wikipedia page on this movie sums it up better than I ever could.

The bad: dog fighting scenes throughout. As soon as the dogs "engage" in each fight the scene ends then they skip to the post fight scenario which is gut wrenching. In the credits they claim no animals were harmed in the filming of the movie, and that the dogs were sedated for for the post fight scenes under the supervision of an animal cruelty prevention agency. Just an all around super violent movie.

TBH this was an impulse buy on ebay and I really didn't know what I was getting into. I'm not going to rate it or recommend it.

Wild at heart - 7/10. Definitely not his best work, but I'm a huge David Lynch fanboy, so I still though it was great. That one chick nude + nick cage throwing down to thrash and being a total weirdo is worth the price of admission

+1 for Powermad. The soundtrack for every Minnesota Thrash Fan during that era. First time I saw that movie I about died thinking one of my favorite bands actually made it to the big time.

They promptly disappeared directly after.
