Depends on what you want to do. A Parametric is going to be more tweaky.
I have the MXR, The Boss GE-7, The Dano Fish and Chips, the cheap Behringer, a 3 band Parametric I built, and recently got a Behringer rack mount Parametric. I kind of switch around depending on what I want to do.
The MXR or Boss would probably work for most people, depending on what frequencies you prefer.

I was playing with my duncan distortion height and pole pices, but its still bassy. I think maybe my guitar is just bassy. It weight 10 lbs on my scale. And i'm still thinking of just getting a Warmoth neck for it. I just want a flatter radius, and taller frets. I found a Schecter Omen 6 for 300 bucks in excellent condition. Maybe i'll just try it.
I love all the Schecters. I have like 6 of them I think, lol. I have an Omen Extreme.
I got 2 Harley Benton guitars recently. I really like them also. One is a Fusion HH, the other is a flat black Strat with active pickups. They are really killer for the little they cost.
You could always use an EQ pedal also. I have gotten to where I can't hardly play my amps without tons of EQ.
Whenever I go to buy the HB PRS copy, they are always out of the flamed black.
You try to order from the US store, or the Germany store?

I haven't tried those, but I generally prefer my amps or modelers over most of the distortion pedals I have.

Got the Raven tonight, and it looks well kept. Only a couple small nicks on the back of the body. It has a heavy body, and a narrow thin D shaped neck. The neck was straight, so I had to put relief in it, and the frets have a flatish feel to them like they were leveled or something. And there is no buzz anywhere on the neck. Looks like someone also filed in the nut gooves, and went a little too low. So i'm gonna need to get a new nut and put it on. The grover tuners and bridge feel solid, and the action was good. Tomorrow I will see how the electronics are, and how bad the pickups suck lol.

Sounds like a good platform to work with. If you like the feel, then a new nut and pickups is easy.
The Raven LP I had felt like a thinner Strat neck. This ones more a thinner Epi custom neck. I'm getting a graphtech nut for it. The pickups sound extra horrible, so I will have to change the bridge pickup out.
After playing my Raven for a while, and trying out a few guitars. I don't think i'm a big fan of D and U necks. Not sure if its the shoulders, the flat feel on the back or because most have a 43 mm nut width. C just feels perfect. I did however pick up a Dean Zelinsky that had a super soft V, and damn it felt great. Like a C with less shoulders. The Schecters, Fenders, and the Yamaha Pacificas all had the best feel. I think I will go with a Schecter next. The Harley Benton PRS copy says it has a C neck, but people have said that some of their guitars that say C has a more D neck. Like their LPs. I do still however like this Marshall with the SD-1. It does a good 80s hard rock sound. I just need a good pedal for heavier stuff.
Oh yea, the Raven almost feels fretless when playing. The frets are lower then my Strats. They probably filed them too low, and thats why they were filing in the nut.

I have Guitar Rig 6, but I hardly ever use it. Mainly just because I don't ever play though my computer. I always find it less inspiring than amps.
Even when I do play through my computer setup, I use a Fractal FM3, with Kali Audio LP-6 Monitors with a JBL Sub. The whole setup makes it sound decent.

I am not either. I cant really play D necks much, especially thin ones like Ibanez. The PRS SEs are a little Dish, but they dont bother me. My Charvel is close to a D also, but just round enough it straddles the line of C and D.
My preference though is definitely narrow and C shaped. That is why I love Schecters with their thicker necks. I like the Harley Bentons also. My Fusion and Strat both have narrow round necks, similar to a Fender. I like the Wolfgangs also.

I just did it for late night headphone action. But I didn't want my comp for an amp. Same with my Iphone.

I was told the Warmoth standard thin was like the Charvel necks. A C/D mix. The Raven LP was C, and I was hoping this one was too. I played the Epi LP standard, and it felt a lot better then the custom model. Thats when I learned the custom was D also. I'm gonna stick with C necks, and look around at all the Schecters out now lefty. And realize i'm gonna have to spend some money lol.
You guys ever shim a guitar neck? The saddles on my Strat are way too low, so i'm gonna shim the neck some. Will I have to raise the nut to adjust for the new angle? I've never cut a nut, and have nobody around that can anymore.

I shim almost every bolt on I have. I generally like the feel better. It is easy. Just take the neck off, put a few strips of masking tape on top of each other at the end of the neck, and then bolt it back together.
