Rr aftershave:
Top tier:
Son of Zeus- clone of terre d Hermès
Mudder focker
Puros
Blue barber shop
Saturnia
Dead Sea
Also good:
Solid gold
Stallion
New York
Chicago
X
Blue fougere

Something Firenze

Re: Gillette
Razorock razors I’ve had:
Hawk v2 single edge - amazing. Light. Shaves perfectly. Milled aluminum.
Mamba - stainless steel. Milled. Shaves a bit too mild.
Mamba 70 - same as above, but not too mild. Nearly perfect.
Baby smooth - light and beautiful milled aluminum. Strange aggressive head geometry like the merkur Bakelite.
Mj-90 - light. Awesome geometry. Milled aluminum head. Milled titanium handle.
I have a game changer 84 on the way.

Re rr soaps: I’m kind of over them at the moment. Too much medium performance when there are such elite soaps currently available for reasonable prices.

Re: Gillette
man you dudes use a lotta stuff comparatively it takes me a year to go through a tub of shaving cream-- so unless you're backloggin' stuff in a bigass cupboard, you're shaving WAY more than i am
hardly surprising, really, cause my miserly ass never changes guitar gear OR shaving gear... just get what works, and stay there basically forever.
well-- i'm hoping to not regret giving a first timer an open comb razor- but set my bud up with a steel cup, a passel of feathers, the open comb old style razorock, a barber handle synthetic brush, and a tub of 160 as a basic neutral starter- which for like fitty bux sure seems like a pretty luxo setup similar to what i started with, except without the bad soap and pighair brush my first razor was a merkur travel razor, and some godawful bar of soap from the cvs which about had me ripping my face off with merkur DE blades, also terrible for my beard.
stoked! a solid (late) christmas present for my best man!

Re: Gillette
I shave in the hot ass shower, (black guys are more susceptible on average to razor burn and ingrown hairs), with a shower mirror, but I exfoliate first then shave. I use the Mach 3's. Yes, they are expensive, but they are quick and easy, like my women

I’m highly addicted to blue razors. They remind me of my dad and me. He was using a good news disposable. I was using a blue World Cup sensor.

Are you talking about all shaving? Modern cartridges? Hobbyist vintage shaving?
Or are you talking about all items in the world?

I can go along with that. The children will play with squirrels instead of toys.

The Tcheon Fung Sing cheapo spiffo soap worked great, but has almost no smell. My face feels kind of dry now, post shave.
The razorock Santa Maria after shave smells killer.
The fatip retro razor is the bomb. Great feel.

Blade and soap recs plz?
for soap I've had decent results with the art of shaving stuff, nivea's shave gel, and whatever the crap my mom got me for xmas is. For blades I've used feather, astra, rockwell, merkur, and wilkinson. The feathers are the best for me, I can't stand the astra or the rockwells, and the merkur and wilkinson are probably the best ratio of price/performance. Can't go wrong with either of those.
