I agree and that's one thing I don't want to happen here. It's one thing to be able to have fun and off-topic conversations but this is not going to be 4chan lite. It gets to a point where it's just ridiculous.
I got rather used to the "4chan lite" version and I miss it. theopenjam doesn't fill that void for some reason either...probably because it's so comparatively slow.

I don't know if any of you are familiar with professional writing...but most often even it needs "serious work" by a knowledgeable trusted colleague. The trick is...and I have this on supremely good authorities (pro writers that I have corresponded with...Jeffrey Carver being one)...to just keep writing, and do NOT get locked down by too much detail.
Right Steve, you're TOTALLY familiar with professional writing because that's EXACTLY what rough manuscript reads like.
I remember reading that thread the first time and trying really hard to come up with something constructive to say. I don't think I ever did.
I think Sleewell quoted what I said to him. I honestly tried not to be too dickish about it, but I don't think I succeeded.

I didn't start popping in to HCAF until the late 2000's and it took me a while before I joined. I just went to read and research reviews and threads that were... wait for it.... pertinent to my interests.
I've noticed that this place is a lot more peaceful too. I think that even though it's the same essential batch of guys that the energy is different here. HCAF had a lot of visitors and passers by and there was an overall standoffishness resulting from more fucktards and trollism. You could have the same exact people on a thread as we have on this one and the overall attitude was very different. I think we were all much quicker to join in the hullabaloo and partake in the brouhaha just out of habit of dealing with dipschtiques.
We all came over here, and even members who would typically be in a constant feud were welcoming each other to find refuge here. I think it's pretty cool... though I do wish we had more members in the other forums, like effects.

Yeah it's been pretty chill here and with minimal moderation, which is awesome. There is simply no issues or anything to moderate at this point, the forum has been completely peaceful.
I think that's awesome, but I also know that we are still very new here (one month on Friday) and while we're growing really fast, the forum is just beginning to take shape.
I think with time we will see more traffic on all the other forums - and we will also see more of the old behavior issues we used to have on HC. There is still a lot of a "new home" feel to the forum, which helps to keep everyone in their best behavior, but once that wears off, some may go back to old patterns. But we will cross that bridge if/when we get to it.
I also think that the fact this forum is not run by a big corporation also helps. I noticed that was a huge increase in aggressiveness once HC was sold to MF, oddly enough. So we may never have that kind of issues, let's see.

I am willing to bet he's a full-time lurker here.

yep, he posted here a few times and he's actually welcome to do so as long as he behaves properly. But obviously, instead of taking the chance to start fresh, either here or there, he sets himself up for failure by badmouthing the old HC crowd and calling our departure a pruning, as if we were asked to leave or something. HC did not prune anyone, people left voluntarily. Oh well, it's his call. Not that I was expecting anything different from him, but still, not a smart move on his part.

People like 17fools go thru life as their own worst enemy, oblivious to the fact the 2x4 that continually smacks them in the forehead is getting bigger and bigger, and that they're swinging it. These ppl make my popcorn popper very happy.

Is it ok to say fuck over here? Because fuck that place. haha
WELCOME! Glad to see you make it over here man! Love your recordings!
This forum is tits. This forum represents pretty much everything I like in a forum. I can't believe I was a member over there for 12 years and they never had the smarts to copy this kind of forum design.
HC didn't get "pruned," it got sawed off to a stump. It's really hard to stay awake over there now, it's so dead.
'You know, once you've had that guitar up so loud on the stage, where you can lean back and volume will stop you from falling backward, that's a hard drug to kick.' — David Gilmour
HCFX is in a pretty sad state too. Similar to HCAF, it's dead as hell, with a few old timers still hanging on, who could probably draw more people to another place if they so decided. I think maybe they're reluctant to give up their place of prestige, even though they can see that nobody's left to appreciate them. The Doom Room crew went to ILF. It really sucks because Phil is a great moderator, level-headed, fair, and extremely tolerant and lenient in regards to forum mischief and associated punishment. At least he's getting a well deserved break. There are still some people trolling, but they know where the line is and are too chickenshit to cross it, so it's pretty pitiful to watch.

Yeah I had great times over there. They never did get round to sorting my account out... not that it matters now. Thanks for the memories HC, there were good times, but I think we all know in its current state there won't be much activity for a while. Hats off to Phil like you say, he did do a good job.
It is funny how 'loyal' users suddenly turn to trolling like that.
