Glad you liked it. It took me a while to appreciate how sophisticated his sense of rhythm and his inversions are. He swings W-A-Y outside and I didn't realize all the stuff he was doing until I heard it a few more times.
He's a
happy man too. Check around 20:00; he's keeping his buddies guessing on the intro, watch the bass player shake his head in confusion.

Andy Timmons, Simon Phillips, Ernest Tibbs & Steve Weingart, epic musicianship.

Nothing like 70's tv show theme jazz songs to start your day. This particular one happens to kick all sorts of ass.

So, this kinda can't be fucked with right here.

And I've previously professed my admiration for Tito Puente's mastery of Latin Jazz. Puente can't be fucked with. And don't let "Latin Jazz" predefine what you think you're about to hear. Fucking this phrygian mambo doesn't, fuck, around.

Thanks for popping in Sasquatch and contributing
I was trying to find "Lover Man" by the group Supersax cause it was rockin' and blues-funky when I heard it on the Jazz station this morning but instead I found another piece by them featuring some tromboner I've never heard of. The band is solid. Great jazz.

And here's another straight up dope ass classic that the whole board has probably heard at some point or another but maybe just never knew. It's probably been in some movies you've seen.

Fuck yes, I listen to this song regularly. +the rest of Headhunters.
I think his Mwandishi stuff leading up to the more funky 70s stuff is my favorite HH era. Weird, trippy, awesome, and way ahead of its time

Thanks Spawn.

I like other dudes partaking in the jazz thread. I can dig that experimental stuff too. I'm typically a 50's jazz fan I've noticed from what I gravitate towards that gets played on the jazz station. Some of the more straightforward bluesy-funk jazz from the 60's I can dig too.
The jazz station saves my life everyday in L.A. traffic. Listening to it makes you a better musician too. You really learn how to feel the underlying progression, rhythm, and where the bass line is leading to no matter how crazy the melody gets. Like being able to see Earth no matter how far into the abyss the cosmonaut ventures.

Totally, the jazz station here is the only radio I can tolerate, and it seems like Denvers got a really good one. I think it's the only one here not owned by clear channel

Fucking good jazz, beautiful scenery, and legal recreational weed...

What are rent/mortgage prices like up there?
