Vintage Marshall Heads for sale...

Post by Scumback Speakers »

I've decided it's time to move these old Marshall heads on to new homes, as I need some work done on my 1969 Firebird.

Up for sale are the following heads...they all sound great, no issues.

1969 Super Bass 100w
1971 Super Lead 100w
1971 JMP 50w Lead

69 Super Bass s/n#: SB/A 8424A $4500
Svetlana EL34, Mullard, Telefunken preamp tubes installed

71 JMP 50w s/n#: S/A 5950C $4000

All heads have been serviced by either Dave Friedman (yes, that Dave Friedman) or Carl Esparza (aka fusionbear).

All are properly working, correct caps, etc and are either stock or returned to stock after removing any mods.
A bunch of NOS glass included in each one.

Prices do not include shipping, packing to your location. Recent auctions for these same amps ended at over $5000
each plus shipping. Links below to verify.

Contact me if interested in buying, I'm not interested in any trades, cash is king!

The Super Bass is $OLD.

There is some interest in both the 71 SL and 71 JMP 50w.

Glad you like my Marshall amp head porn, too!

G-SPACE: Nah, I think I priced them right. Even though the ones that sold on eBay went for $5200-5400, you have to pay eBay's fees. Those are 12-13%, right? So that brings it down to $4698 from $5400. Then there are paypal fees, those are 3-4.5% depending on a USA buyer or outside the USA, so there's another $175-211 in paypal fees to pay. Then you're right there at $4500.

I sold the Super Bass and Super Lead for that, plus $20 packing (I have lots here), paypal fees, and Fedex shipping. Pretty sure it worked out the same money-wise. Both buyers were previous clients, knew their amp circuits, knew what I was selling, knew the price was fair.

So only the 71 JMP 50w is left for sale.

That's going to leave me with only...oh...22 more amp heads. I think I'll live. LOL

Nope, not a modeler guy. I like to feel my pant legs flap in the 4x12 breeze! Kind of like car engines, you can't replace displacement (cubic inches) in a motor. Same thing with amps and speaker cabs, IME.

I've still got 6-7 100w amps here, plus 4-5 50w heads, and various others down to 9w. I'm afraid my picture shows up in online dictionaries of "gear whore"...

This is roughly 1/2 of the pile, not including guitars, boxes of speakers, tubes and other stuff. I might have gone a little overboard.

One of those is a Steve Stevens straight cab. I made three for SS in 2010, purple, salt & pepper cloth, with his signature raygun logo and a 100 logo in the corner, with locking 1/4" jacks.

I have way too much gear...it's a sickness. I've signed up for AA (Ampaholics Anonymous)!

This picture is pure awesome. Not only is it a room I want to be in, but also it makes me feel a little better about my own amp hoard!

Thanks for the kind words on my pile o' gear. Well, I've been paid, and speaker orders came in. It's raining in So Cal, and the shop is dry. I guess I should get off my ass and go pack those amps (ugh) since I've been paid. :horse:
