I recently bought a bunch of the new V3 ones (and tried the free one you linked) and for everything except metal, I keep going back to the older Marshall Checkerboard 4x12 Vintage Speaker Collection (specifically the 1977 G12M "Blackback" Greenback). Something about it just sounds amazing.
Hear ya Mark. The Modern ones slay for metal but I dig the vintage ones for everything else. I love the V3 mixed cabs. These are the best I've heard out of OH yet.
Dude, use the mix cabs on Modern for metal...let me know what you think. These are killing the 7 Deadly Sins IRs I was using before. Really rich and full sounding, easy to dial out fizz...hi/lo pass and a 500 notch, done. The GSP is sounding WAY better to my ears...I have a Recto patch I really love to play but it records like ass...threw a couple of those cabs on there and BLAM.

Not sure what you mean by mix cabs on Modern? Also, I see there are stereo and mono versions of the same impulses and I haven't seen that before.

There should be two types of cabs...the ones marked 'mics' and the ones marked 'mixes'. I've been using the ones marked mixes...44.1, mono cabs. I think the stereo cabs are for AxeFxs, as they can use those. The Modern cabs are the names...swing your cursor over them for the names. I'm digging the Modern ones mostly for metal. I think it's the first ones...like 1-10. There's like 69 IRs in that free pack.
Since the new firmware for Kemper is out, I may have to try these guys. There is true separation now for amps and cabs allowing you to better mix and match.

Actually I'm not talking about the "Vintage" IRs from the free pack that you linked, I'm talking about a totally different older (pre-V3) set called the MAR-CB Vintage Speaker Collection (Marshall checkerboard 4x12, tons of speakers). I dig the Blackback Greenback ones from that pack more than anything I've tried from the new V3 libraries (including that same speaker in other cabs).

OwnHammer stuff is pretty awesome but I kinda wish he had some kind of official clip for each set of IRs he sells (rather than just occasional clips that other people make on their own accord). Of course he busts his ass making these IRs so I wouldn't expect him to have the time to make clips of everything too, but man would it be awesome. The V3 series are very reasonably priced but it kinda sucks trying them blind since even the same speaker in a similar cab, like that Blackback in a Marshall checkerboard 4x12 vs. a regular 1960B, can sound way different...to the point that I feel that a couple of them I bought will never have any use for me. But the ones that I do dig, I REALLY dig.
Btw if he wants to solicit me to make clips for every release, I'd be totally down.
I spent some more time with the V3 Bogner cab-Scumback M75 today and really liked it! It works very well with my Jet City (through the Rivera RockCrusher line out). I wasn't super crazy about it when I was just jamming by myself, but once I started laying down some tracks with the drums from Pablo's newest drumjam, it started sitting perfectly. I'll hopefully whip up a drumjam clip tomorrow.
