Yeah, the standard kit in EZD2 is a little loose, sounds good, but not for everything.
I ended up getting these EZX's too:
Folk/Indie- Good casual sounds & beats
Claustrophobic- Cool, fast, tight beats. Off the wall, kinda hip hop & electronic sounds,
Metal Machine- Great tight metal kits, nicely played metal stuff.
The only other thing I might want is a Jazz kit & some more midi packs for various grooves.
EZX's on sale are only about $40.

That's awesome, Riff - I really want to check out some of those EZX's when I get a chance (and get the dinero)
Sounds like we might have a good number of regulars here using EZD - we need to pool resources and knowledge. Did Pablo start an EZD club thread yet?!?!?!?
If not, I vote Jer!

And, can't the room ambience be adjusted in EZD2? I think there's a mixer that'll let you do that - might make them tighter sounding.
I'd probably rather the EZD kit out of the two, but it's hard to say. I did a mix some time ago with S2.0 for a friend's band, and the drums on their own sounded maybe a bit overboard. Most if not all the ambient channels were being used, and not in a particularly subtle way. But in the mix it sounded huge, and it suited the job perfectly.
In fact, here's a comparison clip of a part of one of the songs, dry and then with the AMB mics as I used them.

The Slate drums you put up... they sound dead in that clip, and I'm pretty sure they'd sound even more dead in a mix. But maybe you want that for whatever you're doing.
Ideally you'd have full control over the ambient mics to set it just how you want it for whatever mix, but I'm guessing they don't give you that in EZD2.

EZD2 has a mixer that allows you to control the levels of the individual kit pieces.

Kit pieces is one thing, but how much control is there over the ambient mic sounds? Are the ambient sounds just played through each kit piece's channel and you maybe just set an overall ambience level for the kit? Or is the ambience on its own mixer channel(s) that you can adjust? Can you control what's in the ambient channel(s)?

The Slate drums allow for adjustment of ambient/room mic's as far as I know
