This sounds like that awful "Only God Forgives" movie. You hated everyone in it. It was gorgeously shot. And it was the most pretentious art school shit I've seen in a long time.

I haven't see that but now from your review I don't have too :D :hi5:

It really is terrible. Think of every awful, pretentious, EXACTLY THE SAME NO MATTER THE PLOT "art film" you've ever seen. Then, add in really cool color schemes and cinemetography and an awesome soundtrack. That's Only God Forgives. Yeah, skip it. lol

I remember you saying that, but when I saw it pop up on NF all I could remember was someone had mentioned it and I couldn't remember if they said it was good or bad.

Now I remember you said bad. :D

Django - 1966 version. 7/10 or so. We watched the non-restored original film transfer version. It's a really great story, but some of the characterization isn't that well played out. Django himself starts off OK, sours a bit, then goes full badass at the end of the movie. He's actually in the Tarantino Django, my guess would as a tribute. This film was made in Italy as a tribute to the Spaghetti Western. Fitting that Tarantino decided to use the name as a tribute to the tribute. It's definitely a good film, especially by that days standard.

went on an 80s movie layabout with vc yesterday....total laziness, chinese, etc.

breakfast club - 4/10 i always sleep through this movie, this time was no different. if you are going to have everything take place in one place, you better have some shit actually taking place. if i want to watch teens come of age, ill go to pr0nhub
beetlejuice- 8/10 always a good watch now and then. always loved the aesthetic
16 candles - 6/10 chick flick but enjoyable, had sisters growing up that watched it a lot so its a classic. and at least back then chick flicks had funny shit and cussing in them
top gun - 7/10 fun as always, though after learning even the slightest bit about air combat, its hard to watch the fight scenes anymore. mostly watch for the flight deck opening scene. oh he's locked on you? why dont you fucking turn. oh you flew through his jet wash and it stalled both of your engines and sent you into a flat spin? man, flying twin engine jets in the blue angels must be rurrrrrrl tough for those guys
who framed roger rabbit - 8/10 solid fun, as always. really outstanding, considering it was '88
say anything - 3/10 this is supposed to be am 80s classic, but the only reason i didnt sleep though it was because i slept through the breakfast club. nothing really happens. synopsis "dude dates a girl, they kinda breakup for a second...oh and her dad commits tax fraud and his friend works at a guitar shop, so there'es glimpses of guitar pr0n for like 2 secs" john cusac is john cusac. just blah.

You just rated Top Gun, which is gay pr0n, and 16 Candles, which sucks balls, higher than Breakfast Club, which is admittedly no more than 6/10 at best.

I assume you guys are 90s kids? Because 16 Candles is an amazing film. Say Anything and The Breakfast Club are solid as well. Might be because I am an 80's kid. It's ok. We didn't have Power Rangers to start our day :cop:

Edit for additional blasphemy: I have never seen Top Gun. I am selective about what Tom Cruise movies I watch and for some reason; I never had the urge to indulge with this particular film.

80's was my teenage years and I agree with you. I have never made it past the bar scene in Top Gun.

You aren't missing anything by not watching Top Gun. Its a horrible film. There are video of the actual flying scenes on youtube, watch that, you'll get the good part of the movie and miss the rest.

As for 16 candles its terrible. I want to punch that annoying kid in the face constantly. Also, its depressing as hell.

I was born in 80 so I didn't see it until the mid 90s when I thought it was ok. Wifey recently had me try and watch it again, not ok, sucked balls, couldn't take it we shut it off.

16 Candles, Say Anything, Breakfast Club and all that Brat Pack stuff are amazing movies, if you can shut off your adult brain and tap into your 13-18 year old brain for a couple hours. If you watch them with an adult's mindset, you're gonna wanna beat the hope out of them rather than watch the hope rise and fall naturally as it does for kids that age.

Top Gun? I got nothing. It was praised so heavily or absolutely no reason at the time. I've seen it maybe three times over the years due to wimminz loving it. I think the fighter pilot thing convinces certain people it must be epic. Iron Eagle was five times the movie Top Gun was, but didn't get much recognition due to not having a lame-ass chick-flick style love interest plot. The only positive about Top Gun was Charlie Sheen's copping of Tom Cruise's motorcycle riding in the parodies. Absolutely hilarious if you had to sit through Top Gun more than once.

John Hughes ftmfw

The only reason why I should have already watched Top Gun is because it was directed by Tony Scott. He did True Romance which is one of my all time favorites. Great visual style.

I've never watched it either. The clips that I've seen here and there were more than enough. Plus I can't stand the sight of Tom Cruise.

Star Trek: Into Darkness 9/10

Cumberbatch is fantastic in it.

Watching this film for a second time makes me feel Star Wars EP VII is in good hands.

i worry deeply. that style worked for trek. would not work for star wars.

but i think he knows that, and some of the new leaked sets etc look promising. no pressure, JJ. just the entire nerd world looking at you.
