Switched from bass to guitar in 1999 or so. Never looked back, I always wanted to be a guitar player anyway. Was a pretty good bass player for a number of years and played in several bands but that got boring after a while. Guitars had more gear, options, and it was just easier for me to write songs on.
Currently play in Orthodox Fuzz out of Fort Worth - a long running stoner/doom band that has played regionally, opened for most bands we admire, and has put out some recordings that I've not been happy with in the long run. That is about to change in the next few months - new album with an amazing producer/engineer and amazing studio coming up this Spring.
I am a collector of amps and guitars but have finally cobbled together a rig that does what I want and I don't see changing anytime soon.
Here is a pic of the current dirt side of the rig, clean side will either be my Sunn Beta Lead 2x12 combo (I like the idea of a combo for cleans) or my trusty old 80s Peavey Butcher through a 70s Sunn 4x12. The Beta Lead has awesome reverb and is easier to transport than another half stack so it will probably win out.
Anyway: 2008 Electric Amp "Green" Master Volume 120, 2007ish Orange PPC412 w/ V30s, 80s MIJ Yamaha SBG500 guitars (I have the pictured 1981 and also a red 1982 model). Loud, mean and nasty. Love it!
