Does anyone cover any songs by The Tragically Hip ? They're odd, quirky and a lot of fun to play, but not a lot of people listening to them in the USA. Songs like Blue Flashing Light have a real creepy menace to them, but The Darkest One and Little Bones or On The Verge are just fun groovers.

Anyone tried to pull off something from them in a cover set ?

Similarly, the British (ex  ) band Supergrass. The song Richard III has a reeling punk hypnotic feel to it, but some of their later work like Fin (off Road to Rouen) sounds like 1970s George Harrison, while Roxy (same CD) sounds like John Lennon. I'd kind of like to cover Kicked In The Teeth.

Anyone else remotely interested in this sort of style ?

I should probably form a cover band called The Obscure.

I'm sure it's very un-Canadian of me, but I fucking hate the hip.

If you go to and search http://society6.com/prints Keith P. Rein, you'll find it. I can't provide the direct link for obvious reasons.

+1. I just don't get why so many people lose their minds over "the Hip". "Courage" and "50 Mission Cap" are about the only songs I enjoy, but if I ever hear fucking Wheat Kings again, I might just go on a murderous rampage.
