I have listened to thousands of vocalists over the years and I have still never heard anyone who moves me as much as he does, both as a lyricist and a vocalist. (Plus, Tony Levin is his long-time bassist -- he's amazing)

Like me, he also suffers from depression and I am in awe that he still produced an impressive catalogue and continues to perform at an amazing level today.

Among my favourites: Mercy Street, Red Rain, Here Comes The Flood, In Your Eyes.

And the dual native-themed Rhythm of the Heat and San Jacinto. If you have a good set of headphones, dim the lights, close your eyes and be transported to the American west. Both have slow build-ups to devastating climaxes.

I'm not a huge fan but there is no fronting on Peter Gabriel. He's crazy talented. I had a drummer who loved him and made me watch some live DVD and it impressed the hell out of me. He's always got cool rhythmic stuff happening.

Completely agree.

I saw him on 3 dates on his 'Growing Up' tour and was blown away. His live band are super talented and the stage show is incredible. I saw the show before I'd watched the DVD of the previous legs of the tour so I was seeing it for the first time live - i was open mouthed for 2 hours straight!

Probably second only to Roger Waters Wall when it comes to live spectacles that I've seen in person...

Axe, there's a cover band about an hour and a half away from you that does an amazing cover of Solsbury Hill (I'm in Guelph). Most of their set is classic rock, it's amazing to see a bunch of mid 20 year olds going nuts over a band playing Fleetwood, Elton John, Gabriel and Zepp covers.
