A sign of bad things to come. Or is it?
I was scanning thru the radio stations in the car today when I heard the intro to Rebel Rebel by Bowie, or so I thought.
But when the vocals came in, it wasn't Bowie's lyrics but instead it was a bunch of redneck, BS modern country lyrics. Singing about my broke down Chevy and that sort of thing. WTF? A redneck mashup of a Bowie tune?
When I got home, I looked into and found it was a song by a guy named Chris Young. According to Chris, he was pretty much told (maybe forced?) to do the song by his label, who told him it was ok because they own the Bowie catalog and they are trying to repurpose these old songs by adding new lyrics to the familiar music and riffs.
I don't like that. Write you're own friggin music.
Then again, maybe I'm wrong and I'm just acting like an old guy.

I bet Bowie is turning on a spit in his grave.

Yeah, I can't see him enjoying a version of his song that begins with the line, "He's got a Chevrolet that don't always run."

On the bright side, it looks like we'll get to hear those classic riffs all over again!
I can't wait to hear a country version of Paranoid.

Also works with war pigs so we might get that lyrical genius twice.

Kid Rock already did and it was dog shit. I'd like to not remember that.
