borrowing a friends amp...

Post by NinjaRaf »

Thoughts? I don't want to reveal any amps, just want to see what everyone thinks. Same mic position for both, Fredman clip with 2 SM57s. Strat with Duncan Omega. Mesa cab. Mesa V30. Dispatch Master on the trem picking thingies, Fortin Zuul in the loopies.

Adding this one for fun.

Got no idea what it is but it sounds legit af!

Totally off topic but I was thinking of you the other day cause I’ve been obsessed with EVH’s Balance tone and was like I should buy a 5150, I wonder if Raf has one for sale?!

Appreciate the listens and comments fellas.

No 5150s for sale right now, but I am borrowing my friends BL, and that is clip #1. Boosted with a Mesa Gridslammer.

Clip 2 is the Mark VII, also boosted with the Gridslammer. Clip 3 is unboosted Mark VII. Different settings to accommodate the boost in both of these.

LOLOL

That name is what happens when 2 guys that have been playing and getting hi together for 20 years write songs hahaha.

Personally, I prefer the unboosted Mesa clip. The boost adds juice, for sure. Kinda like the Shred switch on the JP. Definitely gotta dial up the lows to get it sounding right, though.

I think it's supposed to be a tubescreamer kinda thing, but it's capable of pushing less gain and mid hump than a typical TS. Like 9 o clock on the gain is what the gain all the way down on a TS would be. Which is perfect for me, because I feel like it tightens better and doesn't add so much of that midrange that I typically don't like about the TS pedals. I have it set with the gain all the way down.
