Seeing Duran Duran tonight at LCA in Detroit. Bastille is opening. Never heard them before. Not my style but not bad. Some offset Fenders on stage and their mix is solid.
Niles Rodgers and Chic are playing too. Which, great o guess? Not my thing.
Looking forward to Duran Duran for sure though. Saw them 23 years ago and they were great then. Expecting good things. My wife has never seen them and she’s a bigger fan than I am.

Re: Duran Duran
Ok Niles Rodgers has been solid. I only caught the end of his set as we decided to take a walk, do our piss breaks and the like so we don’t have to get up during Duran Duran’s set. Plus my wife wanted a shirt and merch booth lines were dumb until this set. There’s also real amps on stage and shit sounds great. Niles is on a Strat through some Hot Rods, I think. Bass player is killing it on a jazz bass. Played some good tunes outside of Chic’s catalog too. Modern Love, Let’s Dance, I’m Coming Up, a medley of Good Times/Rapper’s Delight.

Re: Duran Duran
Duran Duran was great. Good mix of tunes from all eras. The newest stuff didn’t outright suck so that’s good. Their live guitarist was great. Played well and handled songs from Andy Taylor and Warren Cuccurollo very well. Didn’t see any amps on stage but he did have a Mesa cab for monitoring. Wondering if the heads were offstage. It’s easy to forgot how guitar heavy some of their tunes are.

They weren't one of my favorite New Wave bands... still, when we heard they would be playing in my area on Sept 22, the g/f and I though, "why not?"...

Ours were about $100 each. We were in the lower bowl at LCA arena just to the side of one of the entrances and middle of the arena. Great view and seats. But concert tickets have gotten ridiculous expensive anymore.

Re: Duran Duran
Awesome GM! Duran Duran is a GREAT live band; as odd as that may sound to say from a rock/metal POV. Their songs in a live context with real guitar parts and tones sound much weightier than they did back in the day. We saw them in like late 2000s-ish? They were awesome.

Re: Duran Duran
Yeah it’s my second time seeing them. I saw them in 2000 on the Pop Trash tour and they were awesome then. Great this time out too. Simon’s voice has held up well. They down tuned for one song. They did Wild Boys in D (some of the higher notes in standard are probably harder to hit now) and it sounded awesome. And pretty ballsy actually.

Re: Duran Duran
I was hoping for Astronaut part 2 with their latest album, but I get a feeling it's going to be Red Carpet Massacre again.
