It did not hold up well in the mix at all. It's definitely loud enough and the tone itself is good but it sits super flat with no bite or heaviness whatsoever. It's sad because by itself it sounds really fucking good, but once the bass and drums hit, it all but disappears in the mix.

I ended up finishing practice with a Katana 2x12 combo they had it at the studio and that was way better. Real bummer.

This sucks! I look at the Victory stuff from time to time but just never get enough interest in me to spend the $. If the Katana beat it; yikes. The Blug has some things I don't necessarily like but the sounds are great.

Yeah Katana beats it by a lot. Which is crazy because the Victory is not cheap. I think their actual amps would be cool, the voicing on the Sheriff is awesome its just the power section of the pedal that doesn't cut it.

And yes, the Blug is cool. Far from perfect but the best portable solution I've found so far.

Yeah I think so but the Katana is a good amp in its own right. The Blug does have more punch though. And it's much smaller and lighter. The Katana is still a regular head format. The Blug travels in the guitar gig bag pocket.

So, it’s safe to say that the Victory is on its way back, if not already there?

So the preamp voicing itself in a direct scenario would be good? I am wondering if something like the preamp only version of the pedal would be a good option for me with something to emulate the poweramp/speaker cab afterwards.

I think so, yes. The DI out with the Two Notes sounded good. And the preamp voicing is great. It's the power section that doesn't cut it. So I think the preamp pedal as DI solution would be really good. I may try that option at some point, but Friedman is about to come up with a DI preamp so I want to see that first.

I am kind of waiting around on that Friedman offering as well, but the Victory preamp pedals are on sale currently for $349, and that is tempting.

I think it's on sale because they are going to release an updated version with the Two Notes Di built-in, which makes sense. That's the rumor I've heard but who knows. But if true, that would be a better version to get since everything would be on a single unit.
