New Mammoth

Post by GuitarBilly »

Probably not for the metal guys but as far as modern hard rock goes this is super solid, especially considering he records all instruments himself.

Guitars:
'78 Les Paul Pro / '89 SG Special/ '04 Gibson Les Paul Classic 3 pickup / Jackson Star/ Endres Tele / Fernandes Rhoads/ ''74 Hohner MIJ strat/ 2 Partscasters

Amps:
Depends on when you ask. I got tired of constantly updating this section lol

Cabs
Marshall 1960A w V30s/ Seismic 2x12 w Redback and V30.

Really? I find his vocals hauntingly effective and buzzing in my head hours later, especially those string harmony choruses

He’s capable for sure. But haunting? I can’t even come close to that. I guess I’d say he sounds more Soy Boy than haunting. Lol.
Just not a fan

Yeah, I like his vocals. But he's definitely a stronger instrumentalist than a singer. Which can be good or bad, depending on how his voice fits your personal taste.
The good part is that it is a distinct sound. The first time I heard this song it was on Sirius XM and being familiar with the previous album, I knew it was him as soon as the vocals kicked in.

The negative side is his vocals are not something that is widely seen as good like say, Chris Cornell or Dio or whatever.

It's more like say, Jagger or Dylan or Mustaine or dare I say, DLR. Highly distinctive, but also an acquired taste. I think it's cool that he took the chance on singing though and I like the results.
