Yngwie's first US interview (1984)

Post by GuitarBilly »

This is kind of long but pretty interesting. This is the first time Yngwie was interviewed by an US magazine. The interview was conducted by Jas Obretch from Guitar Player magazine, who also owns the material below.

Pretty cool stuff with a nice write up and pics of his first demo. I am not that big an Yngwie fan but this is hard rock guitar history, so worth checking otu:

Also Jas' channel is full of amazing old interviews since he was working for Guitar Player magazine when all this was happening. Lots of EVH relate content too. A great channel to subscribe to:

It's a good interview. He was a bit more chill since he was starting out but there were signs.

Jas asked him "are there any other good guitar players in Sweden?"

Yngwie: "no there are none"

He spoke a clearer English when he came to the US than he does now. He probably has a way bigger vocabulary now, but his pronounciation is clearer here.

I get drunk sometimes and try to do his spin kicks in my living room but I fall, almost impaled my cat one time with my warlock
