NAGD

Post by macgaj3 »

As I embrace my descent into old age, I figure it's about time to get a decent acoustic. I have an old 70s yamaha beater with a baseball bat of a neck and nearly non-existent frets that's a real pain in the ass to play. I took a trip up to the fancy guitar shop in the next town over to see what they had. I went in looking for a Martin D or GPC, or maybe a Gibson, but ended up walking out something that wasn't even remotely on the radar.

It's a Taylor 522e. Small body 12-fret, all mahogany, slotted headstock. It sounds great and is super comfortable to play with the compact overall size. The guy at the shop couldn't stop talking about how good these 5 series guitars were, and out of everything I tried, it was the one that I picked up and I couldn't put back down. It's definitely forcing me to relearn some things, with so much limitation on upper fret access, but the honeymoon period is strong.

Very nice! I like that a lot.

I have owned 3 Taylor acoustics and loved them all. Still want to spend some time with a good Martin and Gibson at some point, but until then, the two I still own will do just fine!

That looks pretty damn awesome for a grandpas guitar

Congrats!!

If I ever got an acoustic again I've always thought Taylors seem like the path I'd go

Last year I bought a Martin and that was the first time I spent more than a few hundred bucks in an acoustic guitar. Getting old, I guess

Mine is not anything as nice as this but it was a good investment since I started playing acoustic way more often than I did before.

Really killer guitar! Congrats man!!!

Dude... NICE. Congrats!

Love Taylors... I've owned a bunch of em.

Though most of my "finished" songs/clips/whatever end up being heavy stuff, literally everything I write starts on an acoustic guitar or a piano.
