Billy has taken this comparison/shopping binge to it’s natural conclusion the only way he could. And I’m here for it. Absolutely brilliant.

Unleash that mofo and record it. Think Jimis' version of Wild Thing at Monterey. Jump the channels, put them on 10 and play until the cops show up.

Nice!!
Get ready to fall in love again. It will be everything you like about the 1987X only bigger sounding.

Re: Here we go!!! More Marshalls!!!
I ended up backing out of this purchase. I'm happy with the 1987x. I'm taking it to my tech this week to put a PPIMV and just stick with it.
I think I made my decision and want to keep the DSL100H and the 1987x. The 800 and 900 will be sold soon.
I'm also considering giving the Synergy rack another shot since I still have most of the components.

Probably the right move, though we will all be temporarily cursing your name.

Re: Here we go!!! More Marshalls!!!
So can you go back to ordering a Mrak VII again once you've offed all the surplus marshalls?

Good call, man. I loved the 1987x and bought the 1959SLP thinking it would be even better. It was significantly louder, the breakup was harsher, and it just didn't have the magic that the 50 watter did.
It was the only amp my brother/drummer ever told me was too loud and he LOVED loud stuff.

I always wondered what the 50 was like. My 100 was brutally loud. Amazing sounding but unusable in most situations. The only modern style attenuator/reamping device available back then was the Badcat Unleash. I think you made the right call. Your amp sounds amazing. If it's too loud for a gig you can probably get away with just knocking a little off the top which doesn't negatively impact the tone of the amp.

I love the fact that everyone here is generally supportive of Billy making a responsible decision in regards to the 1959 (I mean the 1987 really covers the same tones anyway) but we’re also waiting for the other shoe to drop in terms of where his gear whoring will take him next. You do a great service for all of us, sir.

I didn't have any attenuator back then.

Tell me about it. Great cabinet thumping, been kicked in the chest by a mule fun while playing it but my ears would ring for 30 minutes after I stopped.
