I honestly wasn't expecting this until March. So I, like a few of you, went and saw Metallica on this last tour and was fanboying pretty hard. So I bought this:
I know Hammett isn't everyone's favorite and hell, I've made fun of him too. But he is one of the guys who got me interested in doing this whole guitar thing and I love a lot of his lead work, especially on the older stuff. He was playing the Ouija version of this guitar live and my wife was like "you should get one in purple sparkle like that." Since the Ouija one was a limited run even in LTD versions I opted for this. One of the things I'm excited about is having a guitar with EMGs in it. I haven't had EMGs in years. I hear the Bonebreaker pickups are just a tweaked 81/60 combo and I'm good with that. Also, this one is still MIK (I checked the SN when they emailed me this morning). When I went to order, I called ahead and they told me it wouldn't be in until March. So I really, really wasn't expecting this. It should hopefully be here tomorrow.

That's awesome dude! I too have been a fan of Hamster's and have enjoyed his sig guitars over the years. I can't wait to hear how you like the neck.

I’m looking forward to it! I will say a former bandmate had an ESP/LTD MH1000 and it played great. So I’m expecting similar quality.

I'm an unapologetic Hammett fan. I think his playing is great and his 70s based lead style is one of the things that set Metallica apart from all the bands with typewriter shredders.
This color is my favorite out of his signature models. Looks awesome. Congrats man!!!!

Bro that's what I'm saying. I had my MIL come over and watch the house (she lives on the same street) while my wife and I took our son to the Doctor this morning. Because Fedex gave us a time frame between 10:50 and 2:50. It'll probably be closer to 4pm, but I wasn't taking chances.

Ope! I finished typing that last one and the truck was pulling up! Guitar box is in the house. I'm bringing her out. Pics to follow.

I wanted a KH ESP for so long. One day I’ll probably snag one just to appease teenage me
That purple sparkle finish is sex

Man, I was waiting on these money shots. She looks gorgeous!!! Would you say the Thin U is roughly the same thickness as an Ibanez Wizard or Super Wizard?
Also, does this model come with the two volume and one tone knobs?

I’d say close to a Super Wizard. Like 1 mm thicker at the first and 12th but that works for me. It’s been a long time since I’ve played any type of Wizard neck so I don’t remember width differences very well. I will say this thing was setup wonderfully. I got a MIK one and it’s near flawless. No sharp fret ends, great setup, electronics are great. That being said I’m sure a MII one would also be outstanding. ESP seems to have great QC on the higher end LTD stuff. And yes it’s 2 volumes, 1 tone. Top volume is for the neck, middle control for bridge and a master tone. 3 way switch. I’ve played some Metallica riffs on it already and it handles that in spades.

And here I thought I was killing it when Fedex delivered a $50 gift card to me.

I really, really like this thing. It wants to be played fast. It’s a lot of fun to rip on and just do gallop riffs. I think the only thing I’m going to change on it is the bar. My experience with collared bars on the 1000 series Floyds hasn’t been great. I’m going to replace it with a push in arm instead.
And being neck through is awesome! The upper fret access is amazing. Missed having a neck through guitar.
