Finally got this amp fixed.

You guys may remember I bought this Mojotone Superbass/2203 conversion a few months ago. When I got it it sounded like total ass. I was going to return it but the seller gave me a good discount so I decided to roll the dice.

This week I finally had some time to get it worked on and I took it to Pete Cage of Cage Audio who is known to be a vintage amp guru in the area. He fixed it up completely and also added a few of his personal tweaks, like a lower value bright cap, a hum balance control and he also kept some element of the non master volume preamp. He explained the technical terms for me but I promptly forgot the details. Something about having the cathodes split instead of combined. (I am sure I am butchering the explanation, so don't quote me on it). .

But anyway, the amp sounds AMAZING now. Tons of lean power, no harshness anywhere and just a ballsy, full Marshall tone. It has a bit less gain than the 2203s I've had in the past but definitely more than enough for me.
This is quite possibly the be-all/end-all amp for me as far as Marshall amps go. Just perfect. I am going to make some clips of it when I am alone in the house because I want to turn it up where it really opens up. But goddamn this is incredible.

Freakin amazing! Can’t wait to hear some clips.

I wonder if he’s got the two gain stages in parallel to simulate a jumpered plexi vs cascaded in series?

Got dang, boy! It doesn't even have to sound good, I'm a sucker for THAT look when it comes to Marshalls. I don't know why exactly.

But what a bonus it is, to have the thought that its the "Ultimate Marshall" for you.

Rereading what you posted, if the cathodes are split on V1 that’s Super Lead spec. If it’s a shared cathode it’s a little lower gain and Super Bass spec. But those aren’t the only contributing factors to lower gain than a 2203. Modifying the bright cap value and whatever his other personal tweaks are would also contribute to that sound. All siad? You got a killer Marshall and took it to a great tech. I wouldn’t sweat the details too much. Just enjoy it for all its worth.

Yeah this is the end of the line for me as far as Marshall amps go. This is the tone I've been chasing forever.

Yeah the Mojotone effects loop was installed during the repair. Great loop btw, really transparent.
