Man, I stopped listening to this group shortly after Clayman, these tracks are pretty damned solid. Thank you for sharing

You ought to give Come Clarity a shot. Came out in 2006, I think? As I mentioned, very underrated record.

Been listening, I do agree that it's probably the best release since Come Clarity. I've heard a couple stinkers so far that I skipped but overall I'm digging so far
I checked the wikipedia out, was surprised to see that Chris Broderick is in the band as a full fledged member now. Was also kind of surprised to see that it's basically an entirely different band aside from Anders and Bjorn. That slightly bums me, but it is what it is. This album overall sounds pretty good so I guess I shouldn't be throwing shade lol

It's passable. I can't say I like the whole album, so I have to disagree that it's really good. The singles were by far and away the best part of the album, plus the acoustic intro and A Dialogue in B Flat Minor, so they're over 50% good songs with 7 of 12, I guess. I agree with spawn, definitely the best effort since Come Clarity.
It's sad how much better The Halo Effect - Days of the Lost is than Foregone, IMO. I had really high hopes with the singles. Whiny Anders needs to go. So many great riffs for an album that has too much filler to be considered great.

I love Bjorn’s riffing. It’s epic, regardless of song.

I also admit to liking some of A Sense of Purpose. I really dig Drenched in Fear.

Last one I listened to all the way through was Battles and this is EASILY better than that. The vids you posted above have been solid. Some old school brutal riffing but still the big hooky choruses of later stuff. The production feels more aggressive vs some of their most recent albums. That drop A# is something that they basically own. I've heard other bands do it, but not as well as In Flames. If Come Clarity and Colony had a baby with some of the hookier choruses from Sounds of a Playground fading onward, that's about what this sounds like. I dig it.

Definitely. Parts of it are much more aggressive than many of their recent efforts (looking at Meet Your Maker specifically). There are a couple of clunkers on where Anders whines a bit, but man, when it’s good, it’s REALLY fucking good. I hadn’t listened to In Flames in a long long while, nor really played guitar, not really, but I REALLY want to learn some of Bjorn’s riffs.
Hence the search for a beater baritone for that tuning.
I also think Come Clarity is underrated. I honestly love that record. The solo on the title track is phenomenal.

I dug Come Clarity. I'm one of the few that really likes Soundtrack to Your Escape. Took a few listens to get there but there's some gems on it. My Sweet Shadow is great, Evil in a Closet has a super chill solo I love and Dial 595-Escape is excellent.

I like that record too. I’m one of the few that likes their experimentation with electronics. I like The Quiet Place, and Friend. I really dig Reroute to Remain as well.
I mean I totally get why people who love Lunar Strain and everything up to Colony don’t like the more recent stuff, but I can appreciate what they’re doing because I dig dynamics for one, and secondly, I loooove riffs. Riffs are my thing.
Two of my favorite players are Pepper Keenan and Kirk Windstein, and while their riffs are completely different from Bjorn’s, he is definitely in their league in terms of consistent QUALITY of his riffs.
I’ve said it before, even if the song is meh, you can bet there’s at least ONE killer riff in it.

100%. I’m also a big fan of Kirk and Pepper. Funnily enough once I really started getting into crowbar I noticed some similarities between Kirk’s style of riffing and Kenny Hickey of Type O. Just made him cooler in my book (I’m a huge Type O Negative fan).

Same. I miss Type O Negative.

I discovered in Flames with come clarity right when it came out (I was 14) and I was into it, but then I went backwards into the early stuff and was like OHHHHH
90s In Flames was my absolute favorite band through some very formative years

I must be in the minority because I like all of it. Well, Siren Charm and Battles are both eeehhhhhh…but I really like A Sense of Purpose and parts of Playground. Of course, I really dig Jester’s, Whoracle, Colony, and Clayman like everyone else.

A sense of purpose had some riffs/moments for me but after that it was a struggle. Couldn't stand playground and haven't bothered since until checking out the latest yesterday
I think modern in flames isn't -terrible- but in context with what they once were, its just disapointing. To me at least lol

I almost view it as two different bands. The one constant for me is that Bjorn consistently has quality riffs, and their harmonies are almost always very well done.

Picked up the album the other day. I like it. If you’re expecting a total return to Colony and earlier this ain’t it. It is however much better than the last few records. If Come Clarity and Clayman had a baby this would be it. I dig it. Andrews growls sound the best they have in a while and his actual melodic singing, while not my favorite, has gotten better. Björn still writes banger riffs and melodies even with some stuff that sounds like it could have been on Whoracle or Colony. There’s also some kick ass harmonies on it too. Chris Broderick works well as a second lead here. Dude has chops for days. Overall I like it. Good mix of older riffs and some newer song structure.

100% agree with all of this. It helps that I like 2000s era In Flames probably more than a lot of people. But I dig the new one quite a bit. I don’t listen to much in the way of new releases…I pretty much listen to rock/metal from the 80s to early 2010s, with some 80s pop and stuff like old Depeche Mode.
But I keep coming back to Foregone here lately. First newish record I’ve really liked enough to listen to it pretty much on repeat. Meet Your Maker and Great Deceiver are two badass songs. I also dig the folksy riffing in Foregone Pt. 2

Yeah Foregone Pt 2 gives me Gyroscope vibes. There’s not much on here I don’t like. Hardly anything at all. Great Deciever rips. A Dialogue in B Flat Minor is killer too. The aforementioned tracks/videos above. This is a good direction for the band.
And I’m with you dude. Not much new stuff I listen to (funnily enough I’ve been jamming Depeche Mode lately as my wife is a big fan) but I also dug mid 2000s In Flames. Big Machine Head fan too but couldn’t do Catharsis at all. Their most recent one, Of Kingdom and Crown? Fucking love it. And I really dig this one. Done about 3 full play throughs now and it keeps growing on me.

Catharsis sucked.
That was a godawful record. Agree the new one rips.
Weakest track on this record is Pure Light of Mind, which just screams radio single, but other than that,

It does scream radio single haha. But I don’t hate it? I don’t love it either but at I can listen to it. Unlike the pile of dogshit that is Catharsis

Yeah same. I don’t hate it either. It’s got some good melodies in it and the hooks are there.
God Catharsis was bad.
so bad it ran off half of his band.
