I have one. I don't use it for your application but I've used to get a micd guitar tone in some of my reels (instead of using the phone mic). It sounds good but I went back to just using the phone since it's easier and high quality audio is not really required on quick social media reels.

which version iPad do you have?

I ended up getting the irig duo. It is for my daughter. She played me a recording she did in garage band on her phone that she recorded bass using headphones as the mic somehow. I did similar things as a kid. I used a speaker and a tape deck to record stuff for music class back in the 80s.
