Introducing Myself

Post by Jr.420 »

Hey you guys, Toe-Knee introduced me to this board, and I wish I could afford one of his amps, but he's in England so I can't. You guys should all check out his amps, he hand makes them to top specifications. As far as amps I've had, there's been a lot. Some I can't remember. I've had a triple rec by mesa, that was pretty good. I had a Tusk, that was a pretty weird amp, primitive half electronic half tube. It was ok, but the triple rec was better. I had a Jet City, and I didn't like it at first, untill I went to the studio with it. Unbelievable tone in there. Sometimes it's not good to assume that the studio has better amps than you. I had a Laney, that was wicked awesome, at distortion, although looking back I think it was the same technique as you had to used on the Jet City, the guitar volume was the footswitch. If only I'd have know that then. I sold it in ignorance, I regret it. I had a Mitchell, that was weird. It kinda worked but somehow didn't have the tone I wanted. I've never had a home made amp. I prefer el84's if I can get them, or el34's. 6l6's seem to lack balls, but that's just me. Anyway I'm now down to my second micro cube now. It's the standard bearer of all the mini practice amps around here in Hollywood, basically ever street musician has one. My tunes are here: http://soundcloud.com/mattoconnor Oh yeah I've also used a 13 amp from my friend Jeff's studio, it's pretty good. Also a Marshall from the studio, a JCM 800 I think. I drove that with Bill Laurence's, best tone I ever got, that's on a song called Errand Boy, and The Barking Dog Band. I think pickups have a lot to do with how an amp responds. That's just me though. Anyway that's really it for me, I hope you guys like hanging out with me and I can learn some things around here, Matty O'
