I just can't seem to get a sound I like. I'm using either a Marshall SV 20h with
a two notes capture and wall of sound or redwirez irs.
I either end up with nasaly muddy shart or ice pick in the eye shart.
What are the common freqs to boost or cut to make the guitars sound good.

I'm sure you tried this...
For me, if it's ice-picky, turn down the presence and treble. Up the bass and mids.
If it's too muddy, up the presence.

Do you have the same issue when you put a mic on the speaker?

I'm not experienced with IR's, but the times I have recorded micless, It took lots of EQ to get it sounding decent.

Try Tokyo Dawn Labs Nova. You can change it in real time to see what different frequencies do to your sound.

BTW, TDL also has a few amazing free compressors and a parametric EQ.

Thanks! But it seems lately (especially since spending REAL money on an SV-20 (( $1950.00 with tax)), Though when I'm playing through it I can't stop grinning ear to ear
it doesn't translate to listen-back on "tape". I'm screwing something up because this amp is the real deal.

With IRs it's a bit of a tedious process of auditioning a bunch of them until you find one (or a few) that work for you. It took me a while and I was pretty much giving up on IRs until EndTime sent me some good ones. I also found a few others that I like. But yeah, I have maybe 500 IRs in a folder and there are maybe 4 that I like.
Once I found them, it did make the recording process a lot easier. I basically have everything I need on a template so I can just open the DAW and start recording.
