Yeah, it's great. No surprise there!

What I love about this is the production. It sounds a LOT more organic than recent stuff. As much as I adore Meshuggah, the icy vibe of the mixes on the last few records felt like it was an intentional mix decision to make the music even more jarring. Like that's necessary, lol. The guitars and drums on this are, for lack of a better word, a little rounder/softer. The transients aren't ripping my face off.

This is my favorite MIX from these guys, to date.

That may be adding to the sense of menace, for lack of a better word, that this song has. It's like this underlying tension that just keeps building, and it almost feels like it's coming apart at the seams during Fredrik's solo. Then that outro comes, and boom. BECAUSE of the mix, I think, it feels slightly more restrained, and allows that to build, rather than ripping your face off from the very first second. It's damn well done.

I like this more than pretty much anything I've heard from them since Obzen, and I really liked Koloss.

My god this sounds massive.

The talent on these guys is just something else. Agree with Loop on the mix but I likely would not have been as cognizant of it had he not pointed it out.
Stoked they've got a new one coming out.

Yeah man. The end riff is instant underbite face. Zeus could curbstomp the Himalayas, and it would sound like Lisa Loeb in comparison.

Yeah, same. I hadn't considered the mix whatsoever, I just knew that it stomped ass. But he's 100% right.

This is the scale by which I judge all Meshuggah and any really heavy metal in general. The greater the underbite, eyes rolling back, and downward tilting head the higher it scores on the Jens brootz scale. I give this song 10/10 Jens.

Hey Loop, considering your mix comment, I just saw this quote from Tomas Haake, thought you might find it interesting. Taken from Loudwire:

Commenting on the production style on the followup to 2016's The Violent Sleep of Reason, drummer Tomas Haake told Metal Hammer, "Sound-wise, we were going for a warmer sound this time around, less harsh mids and highs in the guitars and less abrasive cymbals. Getting older, you feel like, ‘I want to be able to enjoy this,’ and not just be mauled and run over."

Just listened again but on good speakers. FUCK that end riff is beastly!! Instant underbite face is the perfect description.
