Hey all,

I'm moving into a new apartment that has a decent sized basement for recording. It's not the ideal room type or size, but I'm brainstorming and wanted to see if anyone had any ideas on how to make this space work. Attached a few photos and a blueprint of the general layout and my thoughts. Thanks everyone!

The biggest concern I would have is that it's a rental. That really limits what you can do.

I think the most bang-for-your-buck would be to build an isolation booth in one of the corners where you've got the drums. That would let you take the room out of the equation for guitars/bass/voice. Then you can play with some geometry to get a good sounding drum space.

Yup for sure. And I am renting so it limits what I can do unfortunately

I had a similar room in LA. First thing I'd suggest is put carpet or rugs on the floor and hang some moving blankets on the wall to deaden the room without making any permanent modifications.

If noise is a concern, I'd probably invest in a reactive load to record amps silently (with IRs) and maybe even an e-kit so you can use it to trigger Slate Drums, EZ Drummer etc
It's really hard to get good sound proofing without major construction (like a room within the room). So you're better off finding silent recording solutions IMHO.
