Hello there,
I am looking for recording advice because where i live i cannot put my amp up to a respectable sound without sacrificing tone. With that said, what is good for reducing delay input when recording / playing through a computer interface? Good software to record through to get the clearest possible sound through my amplifier or other recording means? Should i use a mixer for the best quality sound? I want to enjoy listening to what i play through earphones. I mostly.enjoy metal, but i also have a acoustic and would be interested in what type of condenser mics people would recommend for that as well. I am unfamiliar with most purchaseable recording software, since i have mostly used audacity and would like to learn about other options out there for thr best possible audio quality through a computer. I appreciate any responses that will help me decide what i should and should not use. Just for reference, I currently have a Prs holcomb SE and peavey valveking.

Welcome to the fold brother! This is the best guitar/amp forum on the interwebznet!!! :rawk:

1) If you want to crank your tube amp and not have the cop show up, you will need an attenuator. I have a Rivera RockCrusher - there are others but, I'm happy with the RockCrusher and the price is reasonable.
The Fryette PowerStation is another good one.

2) It sounds like you hare having a "latency" issue (the delay when recording). Try lowering your buffer below 250... 128 should be good.
Check out this article - about latency issues: https://ask.audio/articles/5-tips-for-r ... ng-latency

3) If you are in the market for new recording software, do not get Pro Tools. They have a cheap version but, the good version is an annual subscription service - that's why I'm still using PT10. I haven't looked at recording software in a while - someone else will have a suggestions. A lot of people use Reaper - the full version is about $60.00.

4) I like my Rode NT-1A condenser mic. It works well for vocals, guitar and just about any instrument.

5) There is a lot of great software for recording your guitar direct. I'm using Native Instruments Guitar Rig 5 which is OK but, there are a lot of other newer and better options. You can even plug your guitar into an AMT P2 pedal (Peavey 5150 amp sim) and plug that directly into your A/D converter - the pedal has a built in cabinet simulator.

6) you don't need a mixer... not for solo, home recording.

Hope this helps!

The ValveKing II has a "Microphone Simulated USB Recording" output jack on the back, for silent recording.
Have you tried that?
