iPad Recording

Good afternoon,
Here's my situation:
I would like to record my amps, in the convenience of my own home. In keeping with that mindset (convenience), I'd like to use an iPad (never mind that I don't actually own one; I'm doing my homework first), but every solution I've found has me using the amp simulators, and that's not going to happen. I can't very well showcase my Lambeth, if I can't record it, can I?
I'm open to traditional PC interfaces, but my PC is six years old, and heavy. I could do mics, but I'd like a line-in option, as well.
Thank you.
