Welcome to the fold brother - this is the best guitar/amp forum on the interwebznet!!! :rawk:

As for your question, don't create new threads if no one responds. Just add a Reply (to the same thread, called a "bump") and re-ask the question, otherwise, we won't see your question.

Here is Al's question: "Hi I have a question is it normal that if I connect the ipod to the input on the amp the sound is very weak even at high volume and very distorted with statics?please help me the amolifer is marshall vs65r"

Answer: Yes it is normal. The output of your ipod is not the same as a guitar jack. You will need an adaptor... not sure what kind but, here is something to read: http://www.blokespost.com/music/guitar/ ... r-amp/4792

What crankyrayhanky is saying, is that you could damage your iPod, regardless of the volume knob. Chances are, the guitar amp will be OK but, not so sure about the iPod. Digital circuits can be sensitive to incorrect impedance, voltage and amperage. Too little amperage can be just as bad as too much.

Q: What's the ear phone jack connected to inside the iPod?

You want to connect a speaker out (from the iPod's internal amplifier) to a guitar amplifier's in and you're asking us to tell you that there won't be any issues?

Static electricity can damage an IC chip under the right circumstances. If the load on a speaker out is not on spec, you can burn out the iPod's ear phone transformer, which in turn, can damage other circuits within the iPod.
Even though the iPod's circuitry is SS, amplifier outputs like to see a load that is within spec and the load has nothing to do with the volume knob.
You probably won't damage the guitar amp, it's the iPod that could get damage.

I'm not an electrical engineer - I'm just trying to help as best I can.

If you don't act snarky, maybe you'd get more replies and additional information.

One of the greatest movies OF ALL TIME   Watched a Q&A with Taratino and Rodriguez last night and they briefly talked about this flick. I wish they would have delved into more as I just love it. Apparently; Pulp Fiction was going to initially be an anthology with different directors taking a segment. Tony Scott was going to do a part until Quentin decided he needed one vision for the whole film. He made the right choice but am curious to think of how it might have turned out.
