I ended up playing the Rush playlist instead of Genesis.

I've only remembered Subdivisions because a band in high school played it during our lunch break and they were pretty good.

I've only owned Roll The Bones, and I'm just unfamiliar with them too.

And I like Deadsy's version of Tom Sawyer.

Let's hear it bros!

Start with the early stuff & work your way forward. Gems in all of it. Then you'll have an even greater appreciation.

When you're feeling REALLY nerdy, I suggest "Caress Of Steel".

be prepared for awesome licks & geat toans . Lots of that in Rush.

AWESOME instrumental. @3:40ish...sh*t gets real. Dynamics for days. Love Lifeson's soloing on this tune and drumming is so tasty.

I always listen to artists according to chronological order. :thu:

They sound bluesy on these first songs on their debut.

I'll leave this one to mostly to the Rush experts. I'm not a huge fan. They have some great stuff and some stuff that I just don't like at all.

A Farewell to Kings is my favorite, but you can't go wrong with 2112 and Hemispheres. Hemispheres is a bit overwhelming at first but really grows on you.

Good "snowed in & home alone" stuff for a dreary day :thu:

I LOVE Hemispheres. Awesome album.

I'll tell you this much, I'm liking their stuff initially more than the Stones. Some bands just instantly grab your attention, some take a little longer.

Huge Rush nerd here. My favorite series of albums is Moving Pictures - Subdivisions - Grace Under Pressure - Power Windows. I love listening to those albums in full in order.

loved them up through All The Worlds A Stage. once they added the keyboards i started to lose interest. Bytor and the Snow dog is probably my fav tune from them. saw them in 77 and 78 and then broke down and saw them again in the early 90s. excellent musicians but i really miss the old pwer trio days.

Winning! I will give it a better listen when I can crank it (in a hotel and the missus is asleep).

I knew there was a reason I liked you.

I'm the same way. I can play A LOT of Rush, but at one point, I learned every song from those albums, but stopped at Hold Your Fire, even though I like every album of theirs.

Brolando, they might start losing you around Presto/Roll The Bones, but that's what makes Counterparts so good. Vapor Trails has VERY bad mastering, but great music. Clockwork Angels is flat out awesome, once I put it on, I can't shut it off.

I LOVE 80s era Rush. Lots of hate because of the keys, but I think that is a great addition to their pallet of tones/instruments. I will say I did not like Counterparts. I could tell the 90s were definitely an influence on that album.

DUDE! I have seen some of your vids playing Rush tunes, right? I remember a white PRS perhaps? Awesome playing! Nice to know we see eye to eye on Rush. I agree with everything you posted.

The Anomaly: What's weird is that they've gotten better with their songwriting as the 90's rolled around imo. I'm loving me some Rush and Yes more than The Rolling Stones.

And I still love Deadsy's version of Tom Sawyer.
