Here's to starting your own threads. What the hell, yolo 2013.

My goal is to use this thread to motivate myself to find new tunes and revisit some classics. If everyone hates this then we can delete it. Otherwise, enjoy.

The album art of Blind Dog's 2001 release The Last Adventures Of Captain Dog says it all. I'm not exactly sure where western themed stoner rock has been all my life but it feels like an old friend already. This album is loaded with plenty of fuzzed-out lead slashing and heavy riffing throughout. One listen through will make you want to buy some revolvers, light a fat J, and ride into the abyss. :sarge:

Traditional doom done in a way that I would describe as deviant and epic. Strong vocals with lyrics devoted to occult themes. The guitar tones are more buzzsaw/thrash oriented than what's standard for the genre and it works.

FFO: Pagan Altar, St. Vitus, Witchfinder General, Candlemass

Next week will be dedicated to midwest regional acts and videos.

I can't say for sure if these guys are still playing. Have always thought this band brought a good mix of accessability and plenty of variation to keep things interesting. The guitar work is a great example of covering lead and rhythm. Solid live footage and performance even with stationary audience members.

FFO math rock, micro pogs

Hard hitting synth fuzz bass over fat drumwork. Their style of hardcore plays out more like prog. These guys are outstanding live, but I'm unable to find good footage.

FFO: Bastard Noise, Big Business
