Now that Fall and winter are making a come back, I guess i'll spend more time on the net :bay: I've really been trying to get into shape, and eating healthy. My neighbor has that cardio from hell. He can run like 20 miles and be good. I can run about a half mile before I need an ambulance lol. I haven't bought anything new, but i'm thinking about getting either a Revv G4 or Aleks K red scorpion distortion pedal. They both sound mean. What have you guys gotten lately?

Not too much, lol. This is always one of my busiest times for work, so not much time to play or buy anything.

The last thing I got a month or so ago was a Lexicon MPX-1. I also got a Dimarzio Super Distortion, but it wont fit where I was gonna put it, so not sure what I will do with it now, lol.

I haven't bought much this year in general, besides collecting some old rack effects units I wanted that go for super cheap now.

Really? Which guitar will it not fit in? I hear the new Duncan 6 string Jupiter version rocks. I might have to try it or that Mojotone 44 magnum. I figure i'll either get a decent distortion pedal, or a Joyo Zombie 2 head. I has gonna spend the money on a decent Multi effects unit, but I would never use most of it lol. They only effects I ever use are chorus and delay. And I would find the best distortion on the unit, and just use it.

My Schecter CR-6. It has the direct mount pickups where they screw into metal inserts in the body. Great design, but the screws are larger than the holes in the Dimarzios. I would have to drill it out, and I don't want to do that.

I have never been a huge effects user either, but have gotten into using a small touch of reverb, and maybe delay or chorus/detune just to bring some fatness and depth to lower volume paying. A little reverb can help the tone sound fuller at very low volumes.

I never used reverb in the past, but now I use it like you are saying. And I like a touch of delay and chorus on solo stuff. As for pickups, I love the dimarzio evo, but it sounds too thin. I want that sound but fatter.

So what have you guys gotten lately? I was gonna go nuts, but Biden wants to rape us on taxes. I might need to save my money. I might just get a mooer black truck, and a new pup for my guitar. I'm thinking about trying the Dimarzio dark matter 2. It sounds great, and now you can get them in black. Harley Benton has a new LP with a thin neck and 14 radius. I was thinking about one of them, just not sure about the satin finish. I've never had one. How are they?

I haven't gotten anything lately. My EVH 5150 III 50w started acting funky, so I took it to the shop for warranty repair.

I want to get an EVH Wolfgang Standard, but they are all sold out everywhere. I tried one out a few weeks ago and loved the feel of it. That model has the cheaper trem which sucks, but the body contours feel so nice compared to the more expensive models.

However, I am not spending any money right now. My job is pissing me the hell off, so I might have to leave and spend some downtime looking for something different.

Man I haven't looked at any guitar crap in a while. I do love the EVH Wolfgang standards. I can even live with the locking trem, since its not recessed. But I want either a rosewood or baked maple fretboard. Regular maple seems to light for me. The lefty special has a ebony fingerboard, but the body is satin :hmm: I saw EH has a new metal muff without the boost crap. Why didn't they do that a long time ago? Really the only thing i've spent money on, is I redid my computer setup. Replaced all of it. Even the networking. But i'm not buying anything else, unless its exactly what I want. I have to see what the economy and everything is gonna do.

Lol, I did end up buying 2 of these since this post! I got the green one, and I liked it so much I grabbed a black one. Both have darker baked maple necks (darker in person than the picture shows). I looked through a few of them, and got good examples of both. Both are the plain satin models, which is something I love about them. Not pretty, but soooo smooth to play. I actually blocked the trem on both so they are dive only, and put a D-Tuna on both. Green is E/Drop D, and Black is D/Drop C. I absolutely love the feel of these. They are so easy for me to play. They feel very natural and fit me perfectly.

So what was wrong with your amp? If they make the new EVHs lefty with the baked maple board, I'll probably just buy one lol. And I want a xbox 5. I must resist satan.

It just depends. The bad part about Satin is it doesn't look as good. It will shine up where you lay your hands on it (like, where you rest your hands when you pick), and it will show pick scratches and such worse. It isn't very durable, so it will definitely look played after awhile. You can't really clean it, or buff it. You just kind of lightly wipe it off with a cloth, and that is about it.

What I like about Satin though is it feels very thin and is very slick feeling. It doesn't have that candy-coated plastic feel to it that high gloss finishes can have. Your arm don't get stuck to it like the gloss finishes. I also think since it feels thinner, that the guitars usually sound better. More open, more resonant.

I dunno man. The treble knob was acting like a volume knob and not changing the treble. It just started doing it one day. After a few days I took it to the shop. After a month, they couldn't find anything wrong. They showed me in the shop and everything. I brought it home, and it has worked fine ever since. :bang: I changed some tubes, unplugged the footswitch, etc.... I don't know if the ride across town knocked something that was loose back where it should be, or if a knob was dusty and not connecting or what. Who knows. Seems fine now though.

I am loving the baked maple neck. It is soooo smooth and fast. The combined with the smooth satin bodies, these guitars are super easy and fast to play.

I just don't want to blow all my money, and then the economy crashes. Like when Obama became pres, and everything crashed that first year. I got layed off, and had to sell half my stuff  I have been looking at the new Schecters. Have you seen this in person yet?

https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail ... erry-burst

Sucks my GC closed and moved across town. It was right down the street. I won't feel bad spending that on a new guitar, but I don't wanna spend more then that.

Yeah, those are super nice. I picked a Charcoal one up for a few minutes last time I was at Sweetwater. If I were to buy a new Schecter today, I would definitely consider that series. They have bolt on necks, which I tend to prefer more than the set/thru necks their more expensive models have, and it has their thicker neck profile, which I also prefer. Their Ultra Thin C can get to being too thin at times.

The Economy was gonna crash last time regardless of president because they were giving house loans out like candy. That bubble burst when no one could afford their house payments.

Yea, I was no fan of Bush. John McCain would have been horrible also. Did the Schecter have a good solid heavy body?

Was gonna buy a Revv G4, but was looking at the Line 6 hd500. I like how in pedal mode, you get 8 pedals with up to two effects on each pedal. I even like the Rectifier and Powerball distortions. Maybe i'll get one of them. Hell, I could get it and a 1x12 headrush. The HD is only 200 bucks.

Might just get the Recto, Plexi and delay. They sound great in this demo.

We got about 8" of snow last week.

I have been in a 1989 mood lately, lol. I have been learning how to dial in more effects on my rack units. I have a crazy setup going right now with a desktop mixer in my effects loop, with all kinds of aux sends running rack units in parallel. I basically took a bunch of random pieces of gear I had and hooked it up up into one big spider web looking mess, lol. It looks like a giant mess, but pretty cool to blend in different effects into my main sound without messing up the original tone.

I have been doing a lot of the Van Hagar thing with the detune chorus type tone with a wall of reverb and delay.

Its 72 today. It feels great. The Mooer detuner is also good for the van hagar sound.

I don't really like the sound of my cab, so i'm gonna spend some money and get a decent one. For the price of new speakers, I might as well. I've found a couple of Marshall 1960As for $400 in great shape, and a Egnatar with the G75s for $300. Seems nobody wants to sell a cab with V30s for under $400 lol. This head takes pedals well, so i'll probably just keep it.

Yeah, I dont love the sound of the Peavey XXX cab I have in my basement. I have the Gflex 212 and an Avatar 212 with a V30 and G12T-75 in my office room, which is where I play more, and they sound better. I would like to get a better 412 or change the speakers in the XXX cab.

I wish I still had my Recto compact cab. It was the best sounding cab ever. But I wanted to go smaller with combos  People told me to go with the Peavey 5150 cab over the others, because they sound good. But its been years since I played one. I also found a nice Crate Blue voodoo cab for 200 bucks. But it has the crate v30 ripoffs. I was told the speakers later became their rocket 50s, but no idea if thats true, or what rocket 50s even sound like. I have the money for a nice cab, I just don't wanna spend it when I just play for my cats lol. Another reason i'm looking for nice/used :thu: And I still wanna play that Schecter. For some odd reason I can see spending the money on a nice guitar, but not the amps.

Started looking at guitars, and I think I will either get the Schecter elite 6, or try the Harley benton custom LP ripoff. The HB has the same spec necks, just med/jumbo frets instead of X-jumbo like the schecter. And the shorter scale length. Just wish I could put hands on both.

I have been loving the 2 Wolfgang Standards I got. I haven't hardly played my other guitars lately.
