Do Randall amps take pedals well?

The old RG series does. You can roll the gain up on the clean channel for edge of breakup tones, then use an overdrive to get awesome crunch. Or run the lead channel without the gain boost pulled and use a pedal to take it into high gain territory.

I'm pretty sure I used one of those on quite a few studio tracks in the late 80's

I went to GC and played a few of the new modeling amps. I just don't need all that crap. Really all I need is a nice clean amp, and a decent distortion pedal. I did however like the Boss Katana. The 100 watt combo would be fun to have. I just play for fun now, I don't care about bands anymore.

Do you prefer a combo or head/cab?

Either really. I have nothing right now. I sold everything but my guitar. I'm still thinking about a cab, and that Quilter pedal. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what I end up with

The Quilter stuff is kind of expensive for a pedal platform in the house.
With the Katana you wouldn't need a dist/boost pedal, noise gate or any of that. No pedalboard needed.
The cheapest route with Quilter is this:
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/amplifie ... r-amp-headIt's pure clean, unlike the EHX ones that break up like an amp when you crank the volume.
Throw a BE-OD in front of that, or some AMT stuff.

That Quilter with a cab and some pedals would be perfect. I'll probably either do that, or a 100 watt Katana.

I'd buy the Quilter myself, but I'm using a DOD Boneshaker into my little Randall RG-20 head and cab.
What kind of cab do you want?
This is the smallest (and cheapest) cabinet that can produce metal tones that I've found. Any speaker smaller than this sounds like shit.

SS distortion and overdrive. Digital effects and an IR loader.

I'll check out that NUX. Man everytime I have money, I have to spend it on something else
If I get a cab, it will prob be a 2X12. I still like the idea of a cab and pedal board.

More unexpected bills came up, so no new amp untill next month. It sucks not having a amp.

There was a Fortin modded rg1503h on reverb for like a day. It was his own personal from his days at Randall and had the same mod he did to the RGOD pedal for the guitarist from Goatwhore. I think there's still a youtube clip out there with it. At $535 plus $85 shipping I just couldn't pull the trigger. I have a T2 i would love to send him to work his magic on

Any of you guys ever try a Waller G-max amp? ISP Technologies made them years ago, but I never even saw reviews on em.

At the moment, I am looking at buying that DV Mark 250M and 4x12 cab. It should be out around December. I like all the demos so far. For right now, I think i'm going to buy this guys Carvin SX100. Its one of the new ones in great shape for $100. The cleans sound great, and the amp takes distortion pedals well. It should work for now. I got a metalzone at GC for $20. Yea I know
But it was only $20 lol.

Yea, that Wampler sounds great. I'll try the 250 in person when it comes out. If it sucks, i'll look at something else. Or just get a cab and the quilter powerblock.
