I also purchased a Marshall JVM 1 watt head. I'm in the process of getting it modded to sound like Dino's old Marshall. If the mods won't fit, I'll probably sell it. Not really solid state, but awesome anyway.
What guitars and pickups are you using now?

I was looking at that Lace. What pickup from dimarzio/duncan is it most like? I want something a little brighter/clearer then this duncan distortion.

There's really nothing like it. It has 24k resistance. It pushes the amp hard.
It's almost like a passive 81 in response, but voiced differently. It's basically two mismatched single coils, so when you play leads on higher up there's a little bit of cluck like a single coil with the fatness of a humbucker. The mismatched coils also keep random string vibration from mushing the signal, keeping the chords nice and clear.

Is it a bright pickup? What kind of mids does it have? More high or low? I'm looking at trying it or the dimarzio d activator next.

It's medium brightness. The're really balanced. Not too dark, plenty of crunch. I think all Lace Sensors are like that. Very balanced EQ curve.

I'll have to check them out. Everybody tells me to get the Dimarzio Crunchlab, so i'll have to look into it also.

I ordered the Emi V12 speakers for my amp, but everybody is out untill the end of the month. But I might just do a different setup, with my tax returns. Nothing fancy or expensive. Maybe a cab, poweramp like the EH or AMT pedal, and a couple of distortion pedals.

I have a Ceriatone Son of Yeti head being built. Modded Marshall, going after the Demanufacture tone.
I'll be down to a single a SS amp once all is said and done. My Randall RG-30ES.

Do you know if Dino boosted his modded jcm800 for Demanufacture? That's gotta be the tightest Marshall tone I have ever heard. Really crushing on palm mutes.
I wonder why he didn't use that amp beyond that album?? His tone went downhill after that.

The joyo zombie might be good for SS tones, I was looking to get a vh140c but I can do better in the price range they are sitting in now.

He just plugged straight in. He used EMG's so the extra boost came from the preamp of those.
The head was stolen on tour around the time of the third album.

Some neat stuff at Namm this year. I'll have to try the Joyo amps if possible, and the SS Peavey Piranha. Maybe Peavey fixed the probs with their new VIP Pro. And we have new Vox and Marshall modeling amps.
