Helix Native trial

Post by greatmutah »

So I’m fucking around with this thing for a bit to see if I like it. I have a newborn coming soon and silent recording/playing may be a boon. I’m not gonna lie guys... I like it. A lot. This is just into GarageBand. New soloist. There’s a bit of slop and I did a lot of this off the cuff. I might be able to make a real song here though. Some riffs I like.

Chain is : Jackson SL2Q -> Mackie Blackjack Onyx -> MAC with Helix Native. Left amp is Uberschall. Right amp is ENGL. Middle/leads are SLO.

Dude this sounds really good. I couldn’t get Native to work for me getting tones I liked but it doesn’t sound like you had that problem lol

Marked for later. Native's strength is apparent to me especially once you start stacking tracks with different tones. Its picky as far as getting input settings just right but I love it when used on multiple tracks.

Thought I'd update this mix... I made a song. I still have levels to set and shit across the board and I turned off the auto normalize. I also wrote a bass line in MIDI. So there's that.

I'd love to actually buy the full version but that's a LONG way off now. My Escape was on its last legs, so now I'm the proud owner of a new F-150, which I love, but... gear purchases and software purchases are going to be on the downswing lately. That being said, I did snag Mercuriall's U530 and ReAxis VSTs. Plus I still have my RP2000 and now a Crate GX130C to play with that I can run direct into my interface and hit with some cab sims. So I think I'm covered on silent recording for a while.

Hell yeah bruuuuther.

My house is F150 XLT/Explorer XLT/Edge Limited.

HXNative is awesome. I know there are differing opinions here on it, but if you get your input levels right, it sounds better than pretty much any of the others, IMO.
