Do any if you guys get into Muse?

Post by Orbis_Ignis »

I picked up their "The 2nd Law" album from Amazon for $1.99. For 2 bucks I said what the hell, I'll give it a try. I'm kind of getting into it. Not something I would normally listen to but I like it

Amp and Cab Bugera 1990 or 1960 into an Orange 2x12 w/Heritage G12M's or Peavy 2x12 w/Seventy 80's

2nd Law is definitely a different animal than their previous albums, but I dig it alright. What did you think of the dubstep wub wubs?

I have Black Holes and Revelations which I dig a lot. Whatever the current single is "Madness" or whatever is ok, but the wub wubs just seem out of place. I'm pretty sure music that has wub wubs in it is going to sound amazingly dated in just a few years and I even like some of it.

I haven't listened to the whole thing though and their stuff seems to work better as a whole.
Main Guitars: Gibson SG Classic, Agile AL3100, Fender Blacktop Telecaster
Amps: ACC150 (x2), Peavey VTM120, JCM600, Peavey Bravo, Yamaha THR5
Cabs: Mesa Halfback 2x12, Peavey 1810, Randall RS125CX

I didn't mind it. I personally wouldn't use it but it seemed to fit

No, you fuck with Transformers, you can eat a fuckin' Kremzeek style cock. Srs.

Them and Michael Bay can share a gawd damn pit in hell.

Didn't hear it because I didn't watch the movie.

Seriously dude, you can't hate a band just because they have a shitty soundtrack song. Do you hate Metallica for that awful MI:2 abortion?

How about Limp Bizkit for the same movie? (hint: You should hate LB for other reasons.)

You're off the reservation here dude. Its ok, happens to all of us sometimes. :D

First 4 albums are great, The Resistance was OK and 2nd Law was so-so. They are a great live band though, caught them a couple years back and I will be seeing them again in March.

I thought the first few albums were pretty good. A bunch of guys who obviously liked Queen, U2 and Radiohead in equal measure. Unironic bombast is cool in my book.

Then Stephenie Meyer said they were her favorite band. Ruined. I know it makes me a shallow hypocrite, but...ruined. :idk:

Umm, yeah. Been about my favorite band since 2004-ish lol when I first heard Origin of Symmetry. Saw them in 2010 on their gigantour, had pit tix, will be seeing them 2 weeks from Tuesday with pit tix yet again. :thu: :thu:

The 2nd Law is growing on me. I listened to it when it first came out, then put it down for about a month, and now I jam it regularly. Pretty much the last 3, Black Holes and Revelations, The Resistance, and now T2L, are all stark contrasts of prior work where Showbiz, OOS and Absolution were more their "old" sound which is when I got into them.

If I could only have 1 artist's catalog with me on my proverbial desert island, it'd be Muse, AND their live stuff to boot.

You mean the stuff that Chris is doing on his bass during Madness? How is it out of place brah- that's all that song is for the most part lol. I actually hated that song the first time I heard it. Now I have a hard time falling asleep if I listen to it in the evening it's such an earworm. I love how it builds up in basically 3 different parts during the song. They're pretty fkn amazing at that.

That's how its out of place, its pretty much ALL the song. And while I think that sound can be cool in the right setting, its getting SO overused in everything its going to sound ridiculously dated in a short time I'm thinking. I could be wrong.

The song has grown on me. I seriously disliked it the first time I heard it and now I like it. Not my favorite, but interested in hearing the whole album cause I bet it fits right now.

Yes they are. I rocked Black Holes & Revelations 3x through in the truck at work today. Twas a good day.

"Madness" drives me nuts. It's practically a wubba-wubba remake of Queen's "I Want To Break Free" right down to the strangly guitar solo. Most of their other radio singles are turn-it-up material, though.

Absolution is the album to get from these guys. Great songs on that album. I seen em live back on the "The Resistance" tour, and they are great live, but the last couple of albums have been kinda lackluster for me. IMHO, they will not top "Absolution". That is a great album.
