Sup?

Post by Ally »

Hey guys, I've been chilling out on here for a few days since I have been traveling for work...... but thought I would actually say hello. :)

Does anyone here like alternative disco-pop? If so, you can check out my single here: https://soundcloud.com/skulldiver/pornokrates

Cheers,
Ally

Impressive! When can we expect the self titled release?

Not bad at all, it's nice to hear something different than I'm used to on the forum. Is that you singing?

Thanks guys, it's a lot more upbeat than our other songs which are a lot more gritty guitar centric... More alternative. My sister and I do this together, full album out in June. This one was just put up for press release

The main vocal is my sister, I do the harmonies and perform the instrumentation on this track.

Like the vocals and the arrangement... I'd buy the CD.

This is my usual music. Love it.

Kind of like the music of Future Islands and Friendly Fires with Chvrches/Purity Ring-type vocals.

It would be nice to have an intense bridge around the 2:15 mark instead of going into a verse with the exact same timbre as the last verse. The vocals are so smooth, they all kind of blend.

It's still awesome though. Don't get me wrong. This is definitely the kind of stuff I like.

Awesome, yeah its a shame so many bands are all moody and intense now a days. I mean, this song is about crystal meth and LA pop-culture - so the subject matter is dark but still enjoyable I think. Thanks for listening!

I'll post links when I get the tracks where I play guitar up, I think all of the gear and tone dorks on here will really like it :)

Thanks for the feedback! We did have a bridge originally but decided against it in the end to make it easy to follow and not break the groove.

-the vocals are great.
-the recording sounds great.
-could stand with one, maybe two subtle layers of something behind the vox and keys though. felt really sparse, like there needed to be something in the way background going on between the keystrokes which the tempo made just that teeeeensy bit too far apart it seemed.
-and i dont know if i'd bill it as disco. sadder than that, and just had a steady beat.

sprinkle some seasoning in that mug and i'd buy it. reminded me of a lot of the girltechnopoprock that's taken over indie these days, for better or for worse. phantogram, metric, etc.

I LOVE this! Honestly, a year ago I would have said, "This isn't really my thing but…"

Now I don't know what my thing is but I would certainly listen to an album worth of this stuff. I have gotten turned on to a lot of new music and am staying way more open than I had previously.
