Tomorrow is Thursday and it will be Genesis day.
I've already omitted the Phil Collins era, since I've learned in recent years that the ones with Peter Gabriel are the ones that are the true versions, and worth checking out.

Any thoughts?

I like their first 5 albums actually, but these two are the bast. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is one my all time favorites.
Re: Genesis
The Gabriel era is the best, but don't count out all of the Collins-fronted albums. A Trick of the Tail through Abacab are all wonderful. The self-titled album and everything after I would ignore.

You have n00bs like me back then that when someone mentions Genesis, I think of the pop crapfest Phil Collins did, even though I liked PC's solo stuff.
Re: Genesis
I'll also suggest that if you're gonna be jamming Genesis, you might as well include Steve Hackett's solo albums in that mix. They're damned good and kinda carry on the spirit of the Gabriel-era Genesis in some ways.

Re: Genesis
Speaking of Steve Hackett, I remembered guitar mags of old, as Hackett was claiming that he did the tapping first before EVH did. Any truth to this?

Yeah. It wasn't like Steve was the first one either though, and Steve's wasn't as over the top as EVH. I think this is the earliest example of Steve doing any tapping, which was in 1971.

My first Genesis album was Foxtrot. Brilliant stuff.
