Any ideas on what makes a SS amp good?

Same thing that makes a tube amp sound good: the player.

That digitech thing sounds interesting. Being able to loop something while you adjust settings so you don't have to keep tweaking and playing back and forth could be a handy feature.

Yeah, that's one point. But what i meant is about the circuits and electrical stuff.

I mean, SS amps might not have the same dynamic response that tube amps have, but some sound very, very poor and there's no way one could get a decent tone out of it and there are some that just sound awesome.

Could it be some kind of "internal EQ" that chop off the odd harmonics leaving only the even ones?

No idea on the tech part. James Peters use to post with us, and have great ideas on building SS amps. Check out the new Nine string Schecter guitar. Might as well just get a bass.

The nut is what was causing all the probs with my Douglas guitar. I got a graphtech xl nut and stuck it in. I really took my time to get it right, and now the tuning is perfect.

After playing and listening to a bunch of stuff, that G5 is hard to beat. Zooms really on the right track.

And before someone come here saying that no SS sounds good, let's just remember Dimebag, ok? ^^

I read that the TWA pedals are rehoused Rowin pedals, which are Mooer clones (but made in a different factory). Try to follow that chain of copying... LOL

Any of you guys play the new Quilter SS amps? The guy behind QSC makes them....buddy of mine got one and is in love with it, but I haven't been able to check it out myself.

The Yamaha THR10 series (I've owned the THR10 and 10X) are still by far the best sounding SS amps I've personally used. My THR10X is one of my favorite pieces of gear I've ever owned, period.

I'm going to try the new Quilter Tone Block at some point.

I'm not sure if my speakers aren't broken in yet, or the Tube Cake is just kinda dark...

I have to dial back bass with the Blackstar 4x8 because the little speakers can't handle it. Even then, I'm still getting a ton of low end once it's dialed in. Now it sounds great.

You know, I'm not sure if I'm gonna get an effects processor. After playing with a bunch, I just don't need em. Its fun playing around with them, but I would never use the effects really. If I got something, it would be for all the different distortions. Plus that Line 6 I had kinda killed me on owning tweek machines lol.

Damn that Quilter Tone Block is expensive. $399. I know the quality is unmatched, but I think I'd rather spend that on something else.

I need a distortion pedal for louder playing. At volume, the Fullbore is way too bright. And I had the treble at a quarter. Its great at low volume, but not high.

So have you guys gotten anything new lately? I was looking at a VH140c, but somebody bought it, before I had a chance. Other then that, I haven't really looked at anything.

Man I haven't really been on the net in a while. I've been trying to get into shape. I did see this pedal.

It might go good with my Fullbore.
