you know... a FRFR is an amp. It doesn't matter what trendy name they give it, it has a preamp/input section, a power amp and a speaker. Which = amp.

Not saying you JT, but I think it's funny how some people saying they're going ampless but take a FRFR monitor to the gig. That's not ampless. It's just replacing an amp that sounds good for one that sounds like nothing and adding a computer in front of it to get what you could've gotten from a better amp. Makes sense

Agree 1000%. Add to this (in this case) that the damn thing weighs the same as if you just took your amp and, well; there you go

As I say all this; I would still love to roll up in some store where they had one and bring my modeler of choice and run through one. If only to compare it to the things I have used for a similar purpose. The physics certainly aren't going magically correct themselves vs. just playing through a head and a traditional 4x12 cab

I've been trying out the Celestions Neo V Types. They're pretty good speakers. I loaded a 1x12 and a 2x12 with them and it made a huge difference in weight since the speakers are only 4 lbs each. I am going to do a 4x12 later this year.

Nothing to do with FRFR but as far as keeping weight down it's a good option. Especially on a 4x12. V30s weight 10.5lbs each. The Neo V-types weight 4lbs.. So you go from having 42lb in speakers to 16lbs. Good difference there and they sound really good.

The DV Mark cabs are the lightest cabs I have ever had. I have never seen the 412 but the 212s are like 22lbs or something ridiculous Of course; the construction and cab mass are going to have an effect on the tone in whatever way. But those specs are impressive no matter how you look at it.

I tried the DV Marks and they were actually what made me stay away from Neo speakers. They sounded very harsh and thin. But that was years ago and maybe they improved them. The Neo Celestions sound more like regular Celestions. I still prefer the V30s on my main cabs but it's cool to have a few lighter cabs on the side.

My biggest problem with the DV (at least on the surface but I am betting those speakers didn't help either) is the semi-open back. My 112s are both open semi-open and I have thought (a time or 37) about converting them to close back.

Yeah that's definitely an issue. I don't like semi open back cabs either.
I have a 2x12 here that was semi open and it sounds much better after I closed it.
