Just opened the box to check condition from Sweetwater. This was a present from Christmas that was backordered. Too late to start experimenting but I'm going to put it through its paces and post a review later.
Some things I'm going to try:
Using it as a USB interface Bypassing the IRs and trying WOS and IR loaders Testing boost pedals in front Loading my Friedman IRs

I like this kind of stuff way more than the spaceship modelers. Just a familiar, simple pedal to route your pedalboard into when you need to go direct. It makes a lot more sense to me. No need to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Looking forward to your review/impressions.

Yeah that always puzzles me too. Although in a small pedal like this I can understand, they already have 3 jacks on each side, there is only so much they can cram into a standard Boss pedal.
But for larger units like the Friedman IR-X or the Suhr Reactive Load IR it's

First impressions so far, just stock settings played through earphones.
The cleans are amazing, probably the best I've ever heard from a modeler. No need to change the IRs on these. Excellent edge of break up as well.
Mid and high gain, some real good ones, definitely have the feels of different amps. Thick and heavy, but the IRs on some are not good. I dl'ed the drivers and IR loader so I'll mess with that this weekend.
The controls work very well, the ambience knob isn't really my thing, but it doesn't need to have gain up more than 3 oclock on any of the dirty amps. EQs really make a difference, but not alot of thump which is normal, bu it does have great bloom and sustain. So far so good, but it has a lot of potential with a few tweaks.
After you posted the OP I did some research on it and watched a few videos etc I'll buy one soon. I like Boss pedals and that's as far into modeling as I'd like to go.

I love plugins, but hate actually modelers, too much option paralysis for me and I always end up adjusting instead of playing. I liked the simplicity of just having an amp model with eq controls. Plus no effects means putting real analog pedals in front and loop of the IR-2 makes it infinitely more accessible to me.
I think this will soon become the must have back up amp for gigs.
This sounds pretty interesting. The FlyRig is my main gigging rig. Has XLR & line out & a loop. . I have the Ampli firebox, which sounds really good, but not enough to keep on my board.
