I second the Rode NT1-A recommendation. It is what I'm using to record my wife's vocals these days and it was the best I've found for her voice.

I don't know how well it would record an amp, never tried it, but if you already have a SM57, I'd just use that for your amp and get the NT1-A for your singer's vocals. Actually, you could close mic the amp with the 57 and use the NT1-A as a room mic, that works great too.

If you really need a solid do it all mic, the SM7B handles anything you can throw at it. And it actually sounds good for vocals, it was my first choice until I got the NT1-A. But the NT1_A is certainly more detailed and clearer than the SM7B. Both sound good though.
