I have always loved Ellefson's playing but Lomenzo brings a new kind of energy.

That’s Steve DiGiorgio playing on the album, not James Lomenzo

Of course you are right. Forgot. The bass sounds great, though.

It's a ripper. As I expected. Kiko is so frigging ridiculous \m/
The chorus vocals are a little weak sounding. That's me nitpicking though.

This song fucking brings it.

Mave is doing the best he’s going to be able to do, when it comes to his vocals. Throat cancer’s a bitch.

I like this later Megadeth a lot. Mave works best when he’s not in a good place in his life or career.
Supercollider was happy, and it was the drizzling shits.

Oh no I get that. I just think the verses are super strong but then the chorus dips a bit. This era of Megadeth is the best the System Has Failed.

I don't think you're nitpicking at all, because I noticed the same thing.

Anyone else notice a "This Day We Fight" vibe to the song?

Kiko is such a monster. I didn't realize they had Steve DGG. That's awesome. I enjoyed Dystopia a lot and this is a good progression with Kiko in the band for more writing.

So. I have listened to the album now it is good but not great. Tone and playing are as good as expected but the songs feel formulaic. Also, Dave gets pretty preachy on several songs.

Dystopia was much better than this.

Love the record. Always liked Dave's playing. The new guy is good, too, although not my cup of tea as far as style. I'm the douche who still likes Chris Poland

Surprisingly really dig this album on the single pass I've had at it.
To be fair I haven't really listened to a new Megadeth album in ages so I don't have any current context for how they sound but yeah enjoyed it more than expected.

Generally agree with you Yarb. I need to listen another time or 3. I enjoy it but not as much as Dystopia.

No fight here, Yarb. Hahahahahaha. SFSGSW is my favorite, though I love all of Megadeth. I contend Dave is some sort of metal savant. His rhythm playing in the songwriting context is...well about as good as it gets IMO

Megadeth still kicks ass after all these years. Consistent as hell. I met Dave Mustaine and he's awesome. The new album has some bangers but a few songs fall flat too. Kiko is amazing.

I tried listening to this with my missus, who is a big Megadeth fan incidentally . We gave up by the third song and put the new crowbar album on instead. Even after hitting the booze all day on vacation this still sounded weak

BTW, Friedman was the best MD guitarist ever.
