Setting up monitors - no luck

Post by Yalesmith19 »

I have a two notes torpedo captor x and Yamaha hs8 and it sounds like garbage…. Is there something I am missing setting them up? I have my amp going straight into the capor x and my captor going into my monitors and it just sounds bad… I have tried different amps and no luck. I watch the YouTube videos and they sound great but I figure I am missing something.

Thanks

Saturday nights are a bit slow around these parts.

More knowledgeable people will reply but, I have two quick questions...
What do you have between the Captor X and your monitors?
What monitors are you using?

I don’t have anything between them and I am using Yamaha HS8 monitors. So the captor x is going straight into the Yamaha monitors.

Thanks

Did you open the mobile app and start tweaking away with the IRs and such?

I just ordered a two notes this morning so, I don't own one. Right now. But, I do know there is a ton of tweaking to be done via the app. Someone else will be along shortly who owns one

Yep I have tried that already to no luck. Is it possible that that monitors require a different type of input? As in line/instrument output different than what the monitors require? Should I have an audio interface between the captor x and the monitors?

Thanks

Can you post a clip of the sounds you are getting? Or at least describe them?

Could be your room could be a millon things. How far away from the wall and how far apart are the monitors. They are pretty big if it's a small room. I would also get a small mixer or interface to come out of the captor into and then into the HS8's.

the Captor X outputs line level, so make sure you're not slamming the inputs of the monitors..... if it's ONE thing I can promise you about the Captor X, while it can and does sound good, it WILL sound different to what you're use to... and it takes time to dial it in till it sounds familiar...

Just did a quick read of the manual and those xlr are meant to go into monitoring or into the interface. All seems pretty straight forward. This part caught my eye
B- Send Stereo, Dual Mono or Dry/Wet signals through the XLR DI outputs
