I think he did a decent job. He was kinda entertaining and the vocals weren't really bad. He's a polarizing figure and can be kind of a dick at times, but he did this for his wife of 40 years to cheer her up (she has Alzheimer's).

Kimmi's mom was watching this when it was live on TV and I IMMEDIATELY knew it was him. One of the most recognizable voices in rock. I am surprised he wanted to do this but Zeegler saying he did for his wife so that's cool.

Yeah, I don't watch the show but happened to see a news item about his appearance. I immediately watched his last appearance doing Man of Constant Sorrow, and I honestly don't think I would have recognized his voice. But then I watched him doing School's Out and it was obvious right away, especially the extra syllable he oftens adds at the end of each line. Kinda similar to what Hetfield does.

Back in college, my roommates and I decided to throw an end of summer / back to school rager. So we collected a bunch of cash and walked around the corner to the liquor store. Bear in mind, this was 1998ish in Oregon, where you could only buy liquor from state run stores that close at 5:00pm. So we head out right before they close, figure we'll walk there and if we have too many bottles to carry home, we'll just steal a shopping cart for a bit. We head in and do our shopping and it was mostly handles so we are loaded down, but decide not to use the cart. As we leave the parking lot to turn up our street, I see three homeless dudes are on a bee-line, running as hard as they can, straight for us. We kind of all realized it at the same moment and exchanged quick WTF glances. Now, our hands are completely full, and then some. These dudes are bum-rushing us for our booty and we can't even really defend ourselves. Right about then, a car doing at least 35 miles an hour makes the turn and skids around behind them like he's the Bandit. We look, the bums look back, there's a FOURTH bum driving this big ole 70s shit-kicker and he's burning the tires off this beast. At this point the bums are on us, so I sidestepped into a yard, thinking I'll be taking one on the back of the head at any second, literally shut my eyes. Then, nothing. I open my eyes to realize they ran right past all of us, and the bums entered the liquor store parking lot just behind the car. The car door flies open, fourth bum jumps out before the car is even stopped and starts yelling some unitelligible jibberish at the other three while making elaborate gestures toward his crotch. The car slammed into one of those poles and the whole back end came off the ground. At this point the bums are in hysterics and I realize, they were all having a race, to see who could get to the liquor store first, before it closed down for the night. We were just in the way!
